3" Downpipe on A3 1.8 TFSI

Well my catless downpipe arrived, I'm waiting for the o2 spacer to arrove in order to install.

I'll go this route: catless downpipe, pre-silencer on + muffler delete.

I promise to upload a video as soon as I install.

The DP does nto have a distinct sound unless you do the center box delete as well. Do you have an S-Tronic?
 
Yes, stronic.

I don't really want a super loud exhaust system, just enough to notice the diference. The person who imported this piece to me sent me a video of his cupra with that configuration (catless 3" downpipe, resonator and muffler delete) and it does sound racier indeed! He was the one to recommend to delete the muffler and just leave the center box.
 
Hmmm, if you can please send me the link to that video. Would love to hear it.

One thing i have noticed is that The Audi configuration is more refined even though other platforms might be using the same setup. Take the new Polo GTI facelift for example, this car uses what seems to be the exact motor and turbo that is in the A3 1.8tfsi but it sounds completely different! It has that lovely blip noise when up shifting which we know is not available on the A3.
 
Yes you are right.. I've noticed that too. Another friens with a Mk3 leon 1.8 tsi, has oem catted downpipe, centee box and muffler delete, but increased the diameter of the tube to 2.5". It blips when it shifts.

I have just the Decat down pipe, I think it is a 3" as well. My number is + two seven eight three seven eight one one four three eight.
 
Well, the day arrived. I'm at the shop right now, waiting for the car to cool down. I'll let you know when finished...

With that I confirm this downpipe, which is announced for MK7 GTI.. Is fully compatible with mqb 1.8 tsi cars...

Is yours the fwd or quattro?

I have the quattro not sure what downpipe to get the S3/ golf r or a3 quattro. I'm fitting the IS38 s3 turbo.
Also couldnt open your video link as I was interested to see what it would be like.

You are still going this route catless downpipe, resonator and no muffler. That is going to be way too noisy and get you a ticket.

hey mate, i have revo 3" catless downpipe on my A3 1.8tfsi fwd, downpipe was for S3/GolfR and easily fit in my car. I dont think you will have fitting problem even on quattro A3.
