RS3 is coming up to 2 years old and so needs its inspection service

What will be carried out and what will be replaced?

Also what prices have you guys paid and from which dealership?

Don't mind travelling if it can save a few quid

Get it done properly at an Audi dealer for piece of mind and FSH.
Had mine done recently and paid 490 for, 2yr 1st service, oil change, new pollen filter.
There is a little variation in price across the country at Audi Service centres it depends where you live.

Yes mate thats exactly what I need

You say variation in price, I have just quoted me £630 (wont say the dealer) for exactly what you just quoted above!!! 2yr 1st service with oil change and pollen filter

Where did you get yours done?

I recently had mine serviced at Preston Audi, was £150 for the oil service but only after taking advantage of their price match promise. When they gave us the invoice there was a supplement page informing us that I will only be charged £220 for the first inspection service which I think is unbeatable, probably not even a reputable independent Audi specialist could beat.

Oil change and inspection service was £450 for mine at Northampton Audi. Was done at 18k miles. It was just an oil/filter change and check over. I also changed the pollen filter and air filter myself.

That is a seriously good price! Iv heard mixed reviews on price matching

I know all my local specialists are charging far less and bet they take more care and pride in their work than main dealer technicians would but what do you have to provide to Audi in order for them to price match?

Looks like my local dealer is trying to mug me off then! I paid 450 for previous car when I had the same inspection service done but to charge 630 is beyond a joke

All this for main dealer stamp

I think we all know the industry well enough to know that we get ripped off by the stealers and the below is example of it

- cars over three years old are on fixed price servicing and a price comparison shows that it is cheaper to service an older car than a newer one?

Surely a newer car is more than likely to be in a better mechanical condition than one which is older but why do they cost more to service?

Because the main dealer knows that they have trapped the buyer of a car less than three years and to “retain” its residual value it owner must have the oh so precious main dealer stamp

Glad the law allows you to take your car anywhere to be serviced and maintain its warranty so long as they use genuine parts but it’s that population of people who want to see main dealer stamps because they think the cars has been “looked after”

Going elsewhere doesn’t mean you don’t look after your car it means you don’t want to be mugged off with ridiculous prices

Sorry rant over (it’s been a long day)

Next time have ago st changing the oil yourself instead of lining the stealerships pockets

Age old debate, but independent for me all day long. Better care of the car rather than trainee Audi techs that don't know their **** from their elbow. And still a FSH as they use manufacturer parts!

I paid £150 for my oil change & inspection after 1 year, and the 2 year service coming up now have been quoted £225!

You may sell a car for a little more with a FASH but these days, most people know independents take greater care and i'd expect the difference to be minimal, especially when you offset the £400 you save in servicing and tyres each year!

Just paid £304 for mine, I supplied the oil which cost me £60 for 10 litres.

398 for me but started at 598. Included Pollen filter foc (£47).

It's only really oil and filter that's it. No plugs or air filter so it's a complete rip off. Annoying like others say just for the 'stamp' which being online you don't even see now too

Oil I was told is £140 of this, it must be stored in gold lined containers and filled by virgins for this. Was told no supply of own oil as some bring in wrong oil... My reply was just done do it wrong then

Would not price match as Synter group don't participate in that deal... My two local dealers are Synter

Like others it's for the stamp and is actually the third oil change its had. I'll be getting the haldex done earlier than recommended for the sake of a few quid (specialist independent garage). I've has the plugs swapped too - 60k is a long time for plugs again for the sake of what they cost to keep things running at their best.

Following a similar service routine to mine, I’m going fixed with Audi but an oil change at a specialist every 5k so one in between Audi services.

Things like gearbox and Haldex are being done at half point intervals with specialist or Audi (so far Audi were cheaper for gearbox and spark plugs as it is subsidised).. well worth it for what is relatively little cost to keep it running at its best.

Spark plugs are 40k with Audi on these not 60k.

Where did you get yours done?

M25 Audi in Hatfield

To clarify what is a standard oil change and inspection?

Is that just an oil change and a new filter and that's it?

I had the 38k oil and inspection come on and so will take it to my independent that last time charged £135.

I understand that I am due a big service at 40k which includes:

Brake fluid change
STronic oil change
Spark plugs
Pollen filter (although assume if that is done with the oil change I won't need it again in 2k miles)

You answered the first part of your question, the inspection is a quick walk around from the tech checking all other aspects of the car then marking them on a tick sheet, kind of like a pre mot test.
If your independent uses genuine parts then go for it mate

I have a question:

On the form that I was given by Audi when they did a check it said: Transmission fluid AND STronic Fluid needed doing.

Aren't those the same thing? Isn't the transmission the gearbox? which is the Stronic?

They will mean both the haldex and the DSG fluid needs changing I'd have thought.

I paid £507 last year for 'major' service. Car turned three years old with 17k. Oil change, inspection, spark plugs and brake fluid. I called Audi Leeds last week as car now four years old on 23k. For oil change only it was £370 absolute joke!!!! £145 for oil (can’t take your own) £195hr labour. £30 for couple of other bits. Local specialist booked tomorrow now at £150 for service and having haldex service as well for £80. They also will update Audi records

Your local indie will not have the overheads that Audi have hence price difference.

Like you anything that seems abit to much for me to do on the rs I wouldn’t hesitate to use a local specialist

As you know Dan I'll do all my own oily bits......

Car is going into a highly recommended local independent later next week for it's 2 year Inspection service / Aircon service.

Following that I'll be doing the DSG fluid & filter change as I've had the box of parts sat here for over a month now, circumstances have prevented me from even using the car let alone doing any work on it.....

It's not going anywhere near the dealer local to me, cannot trust them to even change the oil to the correct level, on it's first service i had to extract 1/2 a litre the day after.

Welcome back mate, hope all is well now.

Your right something satisfying doing your own work, at least you know it’s done correctly I suppose

Just booked mine in with an independant. 2 year service and inspection for just over £200, which isn't too bad. It's handy having an award winning independant that will do the service on a Saturday and is a 5 minute walk from my house :)

Had my inspection service done 2 weeks ago at a main Audi dealer. £230 + oil £47 (Cosco had a deal on Castrol edge)

You have to haggle.

My oil change/1st service notification has come up last week so must be on an 18 month schedule. Audi specialist near me quoted just under £250 so I went to Audi to price match, they quoted £380 initially then when I gave them the quote they copied the quote and told me they have to ask the service manager. Next day they called saying they couldn't price match but they lowered it to just under £300. Good enough for me to keep the records fully Audi serviced. I agree though that specialists would do it better. Once out of warranty, I'd go to one for sure.

Using a specialist still maintains the warranty if using OE spec parts

Yes that's true. I remember reading in a thread here that it might some difference in the second hand market for newer cars.

I got my car serviced today, all went well apart from the front tyres. They said it had extra wear on the inside of the front tyres, wasn't there a thread about this? They advised I change them because its close to the cord showing. The thread was around 5mm though so they said there might be an alignment problem that caused this.

I use awesomeGTi and Ecotune for all my work, main dealers are useless.

Mine came with a wallet containing an A3 manual and a manual CD. Service history is all digital now, can be seen thru the Audi app or erwin, no physical book to stamp.

Mine was serviced today at VAG Technik in Manchester.

Very knowledgeable people and very friendly.

Electronic service record updated accordingly and a copy for my records.

Well recommended.

Yeah its all electronic but they did give me a printout of the service history to put in that grey book.
