I assume there is a financial reason for selling. Obviously none of our business but it seems unlikely that you would sell a car without having a replacement in mind for any other reason.

Price of the discs and pads is enough to scare anyone off with these cars haha! Mine will need pads all around soon, £700 fitted for Ferrodo :(

Back to the OP, hope the sale goes smoothly Tristan.. will be a shame to see you go :(

Sure? I’d be interested to know where I can get them from any cheaper. My specialist has quoted the following

Front DS2500 £362.92
Rear DS2500 £178.15

Up to 2 hours labour, £150

Grand total £691.07

Ah I see you are going for DS2500 and not DS performance.

Yes 2500 are more expensive.

The fronts can be had for £290 though
Rears £143 too

That’s just what was recommended to me, would you go down the Performance option?

I’m talking mainly regular but up to fast road use no more. I’d rather not have the extra brake dust, so if the performance offer that I’d be more tempted to go down that route.

Do you still rate the Ferrodo over any other pad? I’ve heard a lot of good things on numerous brands of car, not just the RS3.

If you think the performance is better I will do that.

I can’t see the point of putting DS2500 on rubbish oem discs.

You’ll probably end up with squeal.

I had DS performance on OEM an they squealed after a while.

Binned the discs and bought proper aftermarket ones.

No squeal and better brakes.

My discs are about 50% worn maybe just under, just down to cost I won’t be changing them prematurely. I’m hoping to get another set of pads out of them and then it will likely be the Revo Alcon route with Ferrodo pads as I intended previously.

Unfortunately can’t afford the £900 for the discs as well in one go, not unnecessarily anyway. Pride I got for OEM discs was £580 but that’s a last resort, don’t plan on putting them back on.

I’ve never had that much squeal but with the pads getting low now around 4-5mm I’m getting it more and more.

Just be aware that the DS2500 route means who ever changes them will have to fabricate sensor delete plugs, because they don’t come with them.

DS performance Fronts do have the sensor plugs, but the rears don’t.

DS performance are £264 a set (8pads) and £120 for a set of rears

Not sure if it’s for pfl or fl

I’ve done near as damn it 18k, at my 15k oil change they gave me an amber warning for brakes.. wtf! My discs have a SLIGHT lip and the pads were 6mm, didn’t warrant an amber ‘warning’, that’s my independent.

The pads now I’d say are around 4mm. I probably do accelerate a bit and end up on the anchors as there just isn’t enough room on the roads, but a few trips to west wales kills it... steep, steep gradients between the seafronts.

Oh that’s not much good, I thought they came with the sensors nowadays?? I will ask about that, don’t really want to lose the sensors not that I don’t check regularly.

As I said on DS pads (not 2500) fronts only

Should you be leaving them in the middle of the road like that? Lot of money down the drain if a steamroller suddenly races around that bend!

crazy price when you think I had disk and pads installed at reading audi on the s3 8v couple months ago for £319 - pretty sure it was an offer

Wow that’s a fantastic price, I believe the usual is around £450 for front discs and pads on the S3?

Worst part of the RS, cost of the brakes...

Considering SOR myself but have concerns about the dealer delaying payment and going belly up.

Use a reputable dealer and I don’t see why there would be an issue?

Either use the dealer used in this thread or RS Direct in Bristol.

Closely followed up by 200 quid's worth of spark plugs every 20,000 miles.

Nooo that’s minor haha ;) The near £500 inspection services have to be next up.

Maybe £200 a tyre on the front axel that decide half way through life they don’t want to be tyres anymore.

Anyway all niggles...
