So after countless hours on eBay and been messed around several times I've decided to wrap my interior trims and ash trays etc. I know I said I wouldn't but it's the only way forward I can see, the state of the trims on eBay and the prices they want are shocking, my interior is in great condition it's just the Colour mis mash I don't like.

So this moves me into the next issue, what colour do I do my trim, thinking Carbon or a brushed steel look.

Can you guys post pics of what you all have for a bit of inspiration.

Thanks.

Mine would've looked a lot better if I had've had smooth parts to start with and couldn't be bothered with the fuss of flatting them.

You'll see what I mean but it does look better in the flesh pal.

I sanded mine down to a smooth finish and sprayed audi laser red to stand out against the boring black/charcoal/grey interior.
Since I'm at work right now, cant get the pics up, but will do so later if you want to see the result. ;)

Sounds good mate but not sure if I can be bothered with the work involved haha.

Easy enough to work with Carl? Would 500mmx1.52m be enough for the trims, ash trays and gear surround?

I can't see how much I bought now but yes it should be.....but you won't have much to play with if you F**k it up.

I've just looked at the price I paid and the amount relates to a piece that is 1m x 1.52m and I know I have enough to do it another couple of times at least.

Starts getting abit expensive for that kind of material though haha, and last time I tried to to wrap something on the s3, lets just say it didn't go well haha.

That's disgusting, it's only ****** vinyl wrap, really.

Looks very good for dipping. Do you mind me asking what the price was?

Previous owner had it done, he said was £200
I had my e46 trims dipped at a place near my old home in Dorset it was £100 (8 pieces)

Looks well that Tom.

That's what I mean, if it was nearly £200 which I reckon it will be around here then I may as well source genuine items haha.

The difference between wrapping and dipping is night and day IMO.

I wrapped mine, and have been peeling it all off again as not impressed.

I was thinking of rubbing mine down and spraying the same colour as the body, dolphin grey, but concerned that if it doesn't look good replacements can be expensive.

Carbon wrap off eblag, less than £20, wears well to

Very similar to mine though the wrap used around the gear stick is different ... How hard is it to take these parts of so I can wrap them myself ?

Also I like the phone holder who made that?

Parts are easy to get off except the panel the light switch lives in, i did that one in situ, the phone holder is Audi OEM

Ok so ive been inspired by this thread and gonna give wrapping a go!
My only question is how do you go about the quattro badge? Do you remove and re stick it or very carefully cut around the edge?

From what I gather it just pops out mate, Same as the 2 chrome strips on the front ash tray.

Just brought some wrap of ebay, £3.99 gotta be one of the cheapest mods going!

Ive been brave and gone for red 4d carbon effect.... just thought the interior needed a little colour.
I saw someone on another forum with red trim and red seat belts, it looked insane mate

Top tip, clean all trims with something like spirit/panel wipe & warm everything with a hair dryer before sticking

Ok mate thanks for the heads up.
I should have the wrap tomorrow so il let you know how i get on......

So my wrap from ebay still hasnt turned up, but a small bit of carbon i ordered from china did thankfully. Not bad for £1.30!!
Below is a pic of my gearstick/ashtray trim,
Im quite happy with the result and might leave them black carbon and just do the dash and door trims red when it turns up.

Sorry to bring this one back, but I want to paint/dip/whatever my trims.
Were these originally the fish scale trim or the brushed or wood effect?

Hi, these were the fish scale type, I have sanded them down starting with 600 grit down to 2000 grit I believe, they came out nice and smooth, then just light grey primer and a color of choice and two coats of clear on top (don't spray too thick to avoid refitting issues).

Thankyou, Tom.
As a test, I quickly sprayed a fish scale rear ashtray cover in gold Plastikote - actually looks half decent, but you can still see the scratches so out with the wet 'n dry this weekend.
