Had my 8p booked in yesterday to have its eibach sport line springs fitted as the s line ride was waaay too hard plus I had bought a new honeycomb grill so I thought I may as well fit that whilst there at the garage

Turns out that it was a good idea to change the springs as the rears had both snapped.

Then it came to the grill, turns out that the one I bought didn't fit due to there being a changeover in 2008 according to the seller .. Gutted!

He said that currently there are no honeycomb grills to fit the pre face S Line, however there is one for the pre face non s line .. More salt in the wounds ..

So.... Does anyone know a work around or is it too much hassle?

I'm sure I've seen blacked out grills for the pre face s line unless they'd been sprayed ??

Any help would be appreciate.

Ps. . The ride on the Eibach sport lines is so much better

Does the Eibach springs lower the ride further? I don’t like the hard ride of the standard S-Line but at the same time don’t want to lower it more than what it is.

It does but because they are progressive springs, although they lower the car they give a better ride

Do you have a photo of the new setup. I’m on standard 18” S-Line alloys. Would be good to see how the lowering looks like.
Also where did you source the springs from?
Thanks.

Only way to fit the Honeycombe grill is to buy an RS6 C6 grill and hack it.
Horrible job, not worth the effort.

******.... Do you know the differences between the pre face A3 8P non S Line and the S Line as I'm wondering why they manufacture a honeycomb grill for one but not the other?

Not got a clue, all I know is that they do not fit. I spent weeks trying to find one that will fit, but it's not possible without buying a different one and butchering it. Massive amount of work and lots of cutting tools and time required.
I doubt I'd do it again in the future.

I know what you mean, I had the front end off when we finally offered the honeycomb grill up to the front end and upon inspection even trying to release the grill itself from surrounding part would have been a disaster as all the tabs lookedike they'd snap

They do snap!

The front is totally different shaped. They did away with the deeper eye sockets and made the headlights flush, also the grille is a different shape again. Have a look at mine (facelift s-line) below: Finding parts for the facelift s-line is still a pain in the **** as sellers haven't a clue what's what. The number of daft bits I've bought that don't fit is ridiculous and her indoors is fed up of me buying stuff for it that won't go on.

That's marketing most are linear or a mix of both .

Other marketing examples..

Ceramic brake pads
Ester racing oil .

Wait a min, Do you have an S3? Pretty sure 8P2 grilles are the same whether it's Sline or non Sline...expect for 8p2 S3 which have shorter grilles.

Scotty, mine is a facelift sport, non S line but my front end looks exactly the same as yours, does this mean i cannot get an after market front grill ?

No mate, quite the opposite, there are grilles available for this front but make sure it's the right one. Check it's definitely for the facelift 2008 onwards as most sellers have little idea what the difference is but some do.

Is yours Monza Silver? Looks identical to mine in your avatar. Nice colour, looks nothing like silver to me, always looks blue.

haha yer Scotty mine looks blue , coz it is , liquid blue , but i know what you mean it does look a lot like yours ,

But linear springs and progressive springs behave differently. I've messed about with custom bikes and aftermarket shocks for them and back in the day there was always a 'linear' vs 'progressive' debate as the results were different. Would be the same scenario with cars..

Nothing wonderful about used S-slime shocks

Probably all linear .

Year , model , 2wd/4wd , doors , bhp , engine code ?

2008 preface lift 2.0 tdi 3 door 140 bkd

Blimey, you want my national insurance number and phone number too :salute::blow:

Suspension choices are unbelievable , even oem will stump a dealer .

quattro ?

If 2wd both Pro kit and Sportline are front and rear linear .

Progressive marketing like I said..

Absolutely, I'm not really a car guy and when doing research I was crosschecking and reading various forums to see what's what? It paid off as they work extremely well..a chap I work with has a 3.0 tdi A6 and a 2.0 tdi A38P auto S Line, he knows his Audi's, anyway... He took my A3 out this morning and he couldn't believe the difference in ride, we work out in the sticks so lots of gnarly roads, I guess the Eibachs proved their worth..regardless if they're progressive or linear..
