On my Avant, if I press the button on my key to open the boot (for 2 seconds), the boot opens an inch then stops. I have to press the button for another two seconds to actually open the boot.

Does anyone know how to open the boot first time?

Hi & welcome.
It certainly helps other members if you insert your vehicle in your signature, at least.

What happens when you open the boot using the driver's door switch?
Also what happens if you have the facility to open the boot by your foot?

Never experienced this. Worth taking a video and posting on YouTube and linking it here. Trip down to Audi.

I find the boot hard to close compared to all other cars I’ve had.

Saloon or Avant? Curious what you find difficult closing...

Happens to me sometimes.
To open, I now press the button on the fob until the indicators flash, I then release it and it seems to open ok.
Also try resetting the boot position by opening it fully, then press and hold the close button on the bottom of the tailgate until it bleeps.

I used to get that occasionally. I think it is because, the open "command" can is also used to stop the boot mid-way from opening. That is, using any of the boot opening methods, once the boot opening has started, you can stop it from opening any further by hitting the open button again. Maybe the car is mis-detecting the key press.

If it happens to you every time (or very frequently), then take it back to the dealer as that clearly isn't correct. However if it is just occasionally, then maybe it is just "one of those things". You'll have to decide if it happens frequently enough for it to be wrong. For me, it would happen every now and then, which I didn't mind. However if it happened regularly, I think I would have taken it into the dealer to be looked at.
