Anyone quite quickly regretted buying?

I don't think I will stick to the A4 tbh. I've had a good quote for a brand new A7, and I think I might just go ahead with one in a few months tbh.

Cars have become like phones it’s seems. Does this make financial sense changing so often with deposits involved. It’s great for the second hand market and keeps news car production up.

Depends on your situation in all honesty. It will be a few months till I get the A7, and the car will most likely be delivered towards the second half of the 2019 from what I anticipate. For me, I don't mind to be honest. I prefer knowing that I've spent money and I've been satisfied by the purchase.

That's very true - the smart thing to do now isn't to buy new but look for a car that's got your ideal spec that's around the 9-12 month old point and stick a private plate on it - I'm now on my second car bought this way and it makes much better financial sense. The first year's depreciation is always absolutely brutal. I've bought lots of new cars in the last 25 years and lost soooo much money....feel like a complete idiot looking back.

As an example the car in my signature below will have it's 1st birthday in early Jan, (Ex Audi UK press car - hence the loony spec), it had lost more than £20k of it's OTR value. My previous RSQ3 was bought loaded with spec and at 9 months old with 3,000 miles on the clock - was from a dealer who had bought it back for cash from an unfortunate customer - that had lost at least £17k of it's nearly £53k purchase price.

It’s good all round. Everyone’s happy. Perhaps not the Mrs.

I have no Mrs hence why I am enjoying the moments I can before I do have one haha

I agree with this. I would go for one with the spec I am after, for some reason, I have found some with some of the stuff, and are currently on sale for more than what I was quoted for a brand new build. If i manage to find one with majority of the things I am after, but missing a few, then I will take it for the right price ofcourse.

Very good Syed! You’ll have to pick a hefty engine to move the a7. They are beautiful. You looking at the sportback?

Thanks! Must say I’m really happy with the car, was going to go alpine white before I decided to be brave and go for a colour I’d never seen in person

Yes, I think winter tyres are a must

On a final note, I’m pleasantly surprised at the 27 - 30 mpg I’ve been getting on my drive to work. On the A4 I was getting between 32-40 mpg on the same route

Beautiful looking car mate, if it wasn’t for the MPG I’d look into one myself. Quite surprised at how cheap the 125’s are so I’m thinking of going down that route, but even a 120 would suffice.

I picked up the new car last Thursday and so far I've been impressed.

I forgot how much easier it was to live with a smaller car after the last 4 years with the A5 and A4, makes navigating the narrow side streets where I live a piece of cake.

As for the performance, I've taken it easy but getting up to speed is effortless and the fact the car has so much low end torque makes it feel like I'm still driving a diesel, except it sounds way better! I'm going to run the engine in before I really start to give it some beans, although with the weather getting worse it might be a few months before I feel brave enough to test the full potential of the car.

Interior is a step down from the A4 but I like it, it's a lot more analogue but I don't mind it at all and the LCI2 refresh has made it look a touch more modern that the BMW interior I experienced two years ago when I was looking at a 3 series before I got the A4. I'd take it over the A3 interior any day (I really don't like the A3 interior).

iDrive is superior to the MMI even if it's way more complicated and I find it impressive/a bit of a joke that the bottom of the range BMW has better connectivity than what my supposedly technologically advanced A4 ever did (it was a MY16 car).

I now do exactly the same or at least i have done for my last 2 cars. the depreciation on the S4 in the first year is mental

Not yet!

It’s been fine, roads have been getting colder and icier but it’s been behaving itself so far.

I don’t want to tempt fate but RWD isn’t as scary as some would like you to think it is
