Rant........

Wife just came out of her work premises to find some crevice crawling low life has driven into the A3. No details left . Some people just have no decency.

Sorry to see and read this. Feel for you! I'll be gutted and Pi$$ed

I know you look after the A3, so it will be even harder, hope you get it sorted.

That was my first question Sandra . Unfortunately not though. Looks like we'll be calling Chris Knott today , luckily we fully comp with protected no claims.

No amount of detailing will sort that out . I suspect we are looking at a new wing and possibly front bumper . Haven't seen it in the flesh yet, just the pic my wife sent .

Like many on here , I put a lot of effort into maintaing the A3 so you're quite right ...... It's a kick in the nads

Before calling insurance get a quote from a smart repairer, I've seen similar dents being sorted for less than insurance excess money.

I’ve had an idiot hit my car in my old work car park before so feel your pain. 5 cctv cameras and I was unlucky enough to park just out of range.
I would try those dent master type guys first as mentioned above. I have seen some work wonders even with a dent that size. Paint doesn’t look broken, nothing a bit of polish won’t fix. Bumper is flexed but it’s plastic so a bit of heat and gentle persuasion might straighten it out quite well.

So , on closer inspection I'm thinking maybe the sent can be pulled . However , the bumper I'm not sure. Where it comes around and meets the front quarter panel near the wheel arch , there is an inch long vertical split. Not clued up enough to know if that's repair or replacement.

To be honest the damage looks like it may be from someone sticking the boot in . Hard to explain without seeing it up close . Three damage is odd and doesn't quite look right for a car hitting it .

Have you tried a pdr company? I had a tree branch fall on my car during storm Callum, and a pdr guy managed to remove it...

Had a someone take a look tonight , looks like the wing is done for but the bumper is looking more hopeful . Apparently it can have a plastic weld done.

Going to look into it more and get another couple of people to have a look. I know many others have been in my position, just staggers me how little respect people have for one another's property nowadays.

Been seriously considering the S3 maybe even RS3 next but after this incident , on top of two previous incidents of malicious damage I'm beginning to question whether I'm even going to bother.

I watched quite a lot of pdr stuff on youtube before using a company on my roof. I'd be surprised that they couldn't sort is as they should have access to back to push as well as pull the dent out... I've seen some pretty amazing results on horrific looking damage... fingers crossed for you...

I'll definitely look into it more , thanks mate

If the bumper can be saved but the wing needs replaced you might be better getting the whole lot replaced using insurance.

To be honest though I'm going to look into options some more , what you mention is my favoured route .

Well the wife has been on to the insurance company who have said they will collect the car and get the repairs done.......... But.......
As the is no third party to recover the costs from ....... Yes you've guessed it . The costs of the repairs will be sought from us in next year's premiums.

Not sure if they are pushing their luck a bit there to be honest .

You will have to decide that yourself whether the premium hike and consequent years of no claims bonus lost is more or less than getting a repair done yourself. I had a £200 excess 2yrs ago. Same as you, came out from a shop and someone had driven in to me. Got it done myself for around the same as the excess but I saved as I would have lost on next years and consequent years premiums

We have £250 excess and protected no claims , hence I think they are trying their luck . Pushing us towards repairing ourselves .

Insurance work is warranted for like 3 or 5 years so it’s kinda more beneficial getting them to do it.
Insurance are a pain to deal with. It just took me over a month to get my full claim authorised, a lot of arguing between the dealership and their engineers/assessor and now the parts are on back order so not driven my car for like 6 weeks.

That definitely sucks mate. I'm more inclined to go through the insurance but we'll see how the estimates pan out.

Don't know the best route. But does protected no claims really mean that? especially if you get a high quote next year and want to move companies then you will have to declare your incident anyway to they new company? are protected claims portable?

Depends how much you value & trust the company you're with. I never stay with the same company. Someone on here once put an interesting thread about how insurance companies market the 1st year as the catchment year and then put their prices up as most people forget to cancel auto renewal thus making more money for the company. Cheap 1st year to get the customers then up the prices. It depends if your company is like this. If your thinking of changing next year then maybe its best not to declare it. If your with this company for a while and trust that next years prices will be the same or lower then go with them. I would check with them and get it in writing that protected means protected at the current level. I just googled it and most of the info points towards it being protected to a certain level, ie you have 5yrs ncb but if you crash and use them but have protected ncb then it reverts to 3yrs ncb. weird system but worth checking.

Even if you have a non-fault accident and get your excess and full NCD reinstated you will be penalised with an insurance hike of around 15% due to "having had a claim" because you are "more likely to claim in the future"

Robbing barstewards.

This is why I debated protecting my ncb so much at renewal out of my £600 premium it was £80 odd for protected and reading everything I didn’t know whether it was worth the £.

Like you say insurance will still go up if you’ve claimed but the way I understand it just not as much as if you hadn’t protected your ncb. You still get your % discount applied for your total ncb years rather than losing any, although moving from 4-5 this year it made hardly made mine any cheaper!

My £280 renewal quote went up to £411 after starting an accident claim. After the other party admitted full liability I got reinstatement of NCD and no excess to pay, but the premium only went down to £358. So the insurance company still loaded my policy premium by over 25%. After "discussions" with my insurer I declared dashcam use which I had anyway and footage had already proven my case. This brought the premium down to £320.

Minor rear bumper damage, no cracks, slight ripple, a few scuffs and a couple of small gouges, only really noticeable from about 3 ft away. I could have gone for a £200 repair and spray over but decided on a proper repair by an Audi approved shop. The repair included a new bit behind, new bumper cover, new lower trim and new reversing sensor/bracket, plus the repairer had my original detailer visit to apply ceramic coat to the new bumper to match bodywork.

The result is that even I can't tell any difference from original factory finish with coating- and I'm very picky. It cost £1700 plus I got an A5 convertible loaner to drive around in for best part of a fortnight whilst it got sorted.
