Just wondering what others are doing for the coming winter.

ideally it would be good to get a set of rims and tires

cant work out though what size i need

I'm running B8.5 A5 18" wheels with 245/40/18 winter tyres on them. The more aggressive offset means they clear the callipers no worries and you can pick them up fairly cheap too. :)

As above, if considering B8 or 8.5 wheels you need the greater offset!
I still have my B8.5 wheels with winter tyres sat in the garage as they won’t fit my B9 Due to the required calliper clearance

I presume you could slap some spacers on them though? Would be a bit cheaper than new wheels! Haha

Yeah I guess, but not sure if they would look weird on the B9!? Original B8 S4 18”

so i dont need specific B9 wheels.

and any B8 or B8.5 18 inch alloys will work providing i use 245/40/18 tyres

Would probably look a little odd, but then, so do the A5 wheels on mine. Especially because they're in dire need of a refurb. Lol

I'm putting winters 255/35/19 on my 19" Cavo wheels then I'll buy some 20" wheels and tyres in the spring for the other 9 months of the year

B9 S5 Sportback

@sunshinewelly no, that’s the point, B8/8.5 A4/S4 wheels won’t fit, it’s not the size that’s the issue, it’s the offset clearance from the calliper. Daggerits used A5 wheels which have a different offset - so I assume you could purchased A5 18” wheels

Yeah, I think that you're spot on. Or I guess that you could potentially use the B8 A4/S4 wheels with spacers but you'd be better just running some A5 wheels I'd say.

For my 2011 B8 S4, I bought some used A4 maybe S-Line 18" 5 spokes, easy to clean in winter, but I got them powder coated before I bought Pilot Alpins for them, that powder coating was not quite as good as I had expected also, the powder coater failed to keep the valve holes clear, so Costco, it seems, had to ream them out and in doing so cut through to the bare alloy, so, at 3 years/winters old, I needed to replace all the valves and no doubt will need to do that when another 3 years has passed, very annoying! I have tried to force red rubber grease down towards the valve stem bases to stop salt and water getting down there and promoting local spots of corrosion so maybe that will extend the period for valve changing!

Just picked up a set of new ATS temperament in wheels in grey in 18in x et35
Shod with Nokian WRA4 245/40/18
They’ll be delivered this week - they’re supposed to fit but who knows !!!!
Like the fact that these rims are load rated - bit of extra security for the winter !

I will be using my standard 19 ET40 with winter tires (ordered conti 860S). Summer tires will go with the new ATS Racelight black 19 ET30 ;)

They fit ! Whoop !
