I am probably going to go into my first PCP deal for an S4. Just working out what the best options are.

I currently have a M135 with a webuyanycar valuation of £14,500.

first of all what is the typical GFV on an s4 after 2 or 3 years

is it better to get a 2 year or 3 year deal. I tend to usually buy nearly new and sell after 3 years. For example my current M135 cost £21000 and i should get at least £14,000 for it. (had it nearly 3 years)

Think the S4 is going to be no where near as cheap as the 135 to run

S4 GFV is about 22k @ 3 years 30K

I noticed one on carwow but they wanted the GFV estimate. Also what is audi's typical APR these days on a PCP

It’s about 7% new cars 14% used cars APR

Something silly...

I think I answered this on another thread, on a preowned it heads towards 15% which is why I suggested getting a pcp elsewhere..

I assume there is no friendly audi contact on these forums. on the m135 forums there was a bmw guy who was able to offer some outstanding deals.

Yes, they will often change rates around, depending on what they want to shift. Last A6 avant was 3.2%, but new Q5 is 6.1% I think

Always worth shopping around with carwow, drivethedeal, coast2coast etc. Wouldn't say there is one place that offers best deals, and also depends where you live.

On the A4 2.0l tfsi quattro it is:
Audi PCP Finance available at 3.5% APR This price contains a deposit contribution discount of £1,500.
Coast2Coast currently has a discount of 16%:
ON THE ROAD PRICE £33,403
SAVING YOU £6,582 (16.0%)

If you're only looking at 2 years, a personal lease may be better than a pcp deal, I've got a s4 saloon in Drayton grey, virtual cockpit and extended interior led pack, for 3k deposit and £280 a month, picking it up October 19th

leasing 3+ 35 here for me, 12k/yr

S4 Avant, VC,

£1290 deposit and £430 a month

It was deal of the week for me on national vehicle solutions, took the quote into audi and the best it, also meant I didn't pay the admin fee

Phone around internet brokers. There isn't a catch all place to find the best deals.

There's a belter of a thread on PistonHeads (currently at vol 6) detailing all the best lease deals as they come up:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=255&t=1754204

There is a good starting point, you'll also get a feel for all the main lease providers.

Can any PCP'rs advise on why you'd go for a PCP over a lease, unless you really wanted the option to buy? It always seems more expensive to me whenever I've compared the two for a given car.

I've also never understood why many prefer PCP over a lease... but often hear this thing about "wanting to own the car"..

Personally I never want to own a depreciating asset! Prefer the tax write offs on a lease...

However... will say no more at fear of opening up the PCP vs Lease debate which I've seen on many forums, many times! ;-)

Can't speak for others, but for me personally (I clearly haven't looked hard enough) PCP vs. lease monthlies have always been very very close, so have always gone PCP, as then tend to P/X or sell call within 2-3 years and in most cases get my deposit, or a decent chunk of it back.

Next time I will most definitely be more thorough!!!

I've had 3 PCP's in a row. Overall cost I think has been very similar to lease.

I have always wanted rid of the car early on the PCP's as I get bored easily... this is the only real benefit IMO. Part-ex it or sell it early and get something else.

same here, don't like:

a) being tied in for minimum period. Could just about live with 2 years (he says this after getting rid of last one after 18 months :whistle2:)
b) deposit and admin fee that you will NEVER get back.
c) being seriously stung for cosmetic, mileage, or something else they make up...Don't get me wrong, take really good care of my cars, so maybe c) is more I am nervous of the unknown/untried.

b) I factor the deposit into the overall cost, important to compare on a like for like basis

c) On my 4th lease and never paid for anything cosmetic, damage, fair wear and tear. The BVRLA guidelines are quite lenient.

Hasn't been mentioned on the thread but business lease is also tax deductible - PCP isn't.
So knock 30% off the business lease price for the true cost.
With PCP, you've paid income tax on the monthly £ and you'll NEVER get it back! ;-)

I Have tended to factor in the deposit in the past, but as mentioned have always (so far) got a better deal out of my dealer, who I have bought a few cars from. Tend to start with carwow etc, and he beats it and chucks in some stuff.

No business lease for me unfortunately, and on the income tax comment, I pay that for f*cking everything anyway!!!! :rulez:

Great if you have a dealer like that! Just goes to show how much manoeuvre they have with prices when they want to.

Don't get me started on tax!! ;-)

That's quite an odd lease deal?

12 months down on a 24 month lease?

I'm guessing your numbers are ex vat and 5000 miles PA too?

Thats sounds cheap, just over £100 pw for 2 years rental.

Was a custom offer which was deal of the week, I'd rather pay more deposit and less a month, but each to there own, no including VAT and 8k a year which is more than I need

I’m on my first PCP (after a couple outright used purchases and a good number of leases) and I’m treating it like a lease. Deal was more attractive with better contribution and 5.9% APR. I’m not bothered about having any equity at the end as it’ll be going back and I’ll jump into something else.

Deals all depends on what the manufacturer and dealer are trying to achieve at that time. On my Maserati the lease was £90 a month cheaper than PCP on the exact same deposit, term and mileage but on RS5 lease was much more expensive.
