Potentially hot off the press, but nothing comes up on Google? This is directly from Northampton Audi today...

My dad, who has an been trying to get some updates on his new S4 order, just got told this by our dealer over the phone today. Email confirmation followed, extract / summary below:

"In line with model year changes, new testing procedure and improvements on the models factory (Audi) has announced that they wouldn’t be able to start production on some of the models until 2019!

This unfortunately includes RS3, S4, S5, RS5. TTRS and SQ7."

Has anyone else heard about this? Specifically those with RS3 orders in the Audi pipeline?

Email attached*, names / addresses redacted.

*Appreciate the wording looks slightly strange, but can 100% confirm the email is legit as this it's the same guy I used for my RS3 order.

It’s not even just S/RS models affected.

Been a shutdown on most models for a few weeks already.

It’s mainly to do with them needing to re test every model for the upcoming changes in Tax in emissions using the ‘real world’ driving method.

Introduction of GPF’s on the cars too.

Limited supply may be a good thing for residuals to be fair. If people can’t order or buy new, they will naturally go to the used market for one.

My dealer told me 2 weeks ago that he has been instructed to quote up to 9 months for S and RS models.

Just read they’ve also redcuded the s3 back down to 300ps. Gutted

Not many people will wait for 9 months on a car. That is just ridiculous time for anyone

What's a GPF?

From what I can gather, new EU regulations for petrol cars to have GPF’s fitted (like the DPF’s in diesel cars) from Sept/Oct onwards.

No idea what the sweet 2.5t engine is going to sound like with one of these sandwiched in its exhaust.

I’ve waited that long twice :seenoevil: in fact well over 12 months for one particular car :tearsofjoy:

Good news is all of our cars will be more valuable now.

And the dealers will see any left over stock... this increasing the value.

Must surely help residuals for us current owners, as you say.

Although 9 months wait...I just cannot believe that.

As for sound, they are making these cars quieter and quieter. You'll soon be better off buying a Prius for sound...

I agree. Audi have a tough few months ahead navigating the new emissions regulations whilst trying to keep their customer base happy.

RS4 already compliant and sounds like a hoover so it doesn't look good for the 3 imho.

Thank the EU for that then:tearsofjoy:
I do take your point, but only the other day I was behind an old Renault 5 crawling through a small village near me that had pavement cafes etc, and really the stench was awful - and to be honest, the Renault appeared to be in good condition! I could not believe that back in the day we were subjected to this and just put up with it!
I think overall, I prefer it now than then!!:herb:

I have been trying to order one for 6 weeks now, was initially told that the were re configuring for MY19 cars but I had 2 calls on Thursday confirming lead times of up to 9 months before the order books re open. So frustrating, in a typical Audi fashion it's never made easy. I was happy to wait till March next year anyway to collect the car but realistically I didn't want to wait till March to place the order.

So annoying, cheers EU.

But with a new A3 due in or by 2020, does anybody really think that Audi will be dishing out the RS3 in a matter of a few months before the update?

Definitely will be a further run they will want to shift as many as possible maybe a special edition?

Hm, it would be very close to the end of the A3 run altogether.

Will be interesting to see how they tone the next one down, there’s me looking at more volume at the moment too haha.

They've done it many times before. Usually all RS cars came out right at the end of the model run. So Audi churning out profitable RS3's while the production line still in action makes sense. Though, to entice they may produce a RS3 Performance.

But it isn’t going to happen. BRINO is not Brexit and hopeful that people will see sense and stop it altogether. BRINO is pointless.

German cars prices in the UK will rocket with BRINO or Brexit, Audi do not need the UK given the huge growth and demand in other markets.

You honesty think any manufacturer will want to lose the U.K. market?

Can they survive without it, of course they can, but they still want the business

Prices won’t rocket because if brexit, that just will not happen

mmm.

Do not be too complacent. Sure, Germany will want to keep its UK market and they will continue to offer competitive prices, but the people you need to fear are the UK car manufacturers who will do everything possible to lobby the government to slap sizeable tariffs onto imports.

Even if they did not, I bet you a dollar that the Brexit grey suits would see a tax on German imports as a good way to get their brexit dividend...

I doubt that Germany will discount their UK sales to meet whatever tariffs or taxes that are forced on them.

Welcome to a nation driving Jukes and Micras:blow:

Bit harsh TX
Tbf mine might be broken as I was at a show over the w/end parked next to a B9 S5 which sounded louder! Will ask Audi to look at it when in for a service.

Lol tbf it goes well and quicker than the PFL RS3 for sure, lack of sound / drama lets it down though imho. Keeping an eye on exhausts ;)
