Armrest Latch

^ I did it the same way; used a small flathead screwdriver to prop it open a bit (carefully, look for the sweet spot), then a plastic clothes pin to keep it in place. At which point you hear it pop open (but only slightly).

I should add, that some months later, this magnet technique has worked out quite well. My only slight qualm however, and I feel this should be noted for those of you who wish to go this route, is that when the armrest is down, it is susceptible to slight sideways movements. For example when you get out of the car and push off the armrest, you tend to push the top of the rest towards one side. It can make a slight sound too. Not the biggest issue, and certainly better than a completely broken latch, but still feel I should mention this.
