Getting my downpipe with 100cpi cat and res-delete fitted on the 10th April. I can’t wait to see how it sounds as well. If you read on the golf r forum they all love BCS and it’s there number one downpipe. Surprises me how there is not much talk about it on here.

Been looking at getting a BCS Res delete pipe recently but with the car only being 10 months old I didn’t want to worry about invalidating the warranty. Queried this with Audi UK and they said it would invalidate the exhaust warranty but if there was another fault caused that they could link back to the resonator delete they would invalidate that claim too which is a bit worrying!

Seen on the Golf R forum that Unicorn had said they had seen some different engine ‘tests’ with a res delete installed, which concerns me further as I’m not sure whether Audi would use that sort of thing as an open invitation to dismiss my claim if my car developed an engine fault etc. So I’m still on the fence at the moment...

I'm pretty happy with mine on the PFL, although I'm sure on a FL it is much better as stock sounds better anyway.

Motorway driving with all valves open can be a bit annoying, get used to it after a while and just needs the music on a bit louder. I'm concerned though passengers in the back will want to kill themselves, luckily its rare I do a motorway/long trip with passengers in back. Thinking about getting a remote anyway to shut the valves on demand, for day to day driving though its fine with them open.

Did you know Audi provides their own OEM res delete with part no. 8V5 071 904 in the States?

I wouldn't worry at all which is why a BCS res delete pipe is on the way to me :racer:

Yeah I know that’s what made me laugh when I spoke to Audi, I was told because the resonator delete kit isn’t approved for the UK market it doesn’t make any difference for warranty purposes.

I’m sure if I did install it there wouldn’t be any issues but it’d be just my luck if there was. May have a chat with the Service Manager when my car goes in for a service in May and see what he says.

Out of interest how much did you guys pay for the BCS res delete?

Thanks for the interest guys...
the price for the Centre silencer delete pipe is £265.50 inc VAT - shipping (UK) is £15.00 - overseas - ask ;-)
Cheers

Yeah i heard it can be loud with valves kept open but i will keep it as stock for now then mabey get them coded open , is that the only way to get them open permanently by coding?

I've just unplugged the cable near the exhaust tips to keep them open.

only shows one side of the car, but is the same for the other side.

Sorry to bump... Do you have any vids on the BCS res delete please? Also, mentioned res delete to my local garage and he said as of May it's an MOT failure, is that the case?

I’ve done some checking and can’t see anywhere that deleting a resonator will result in an MOT fail - I wouldn’t have thought they affected emissions? Unless they fail for noise levels now!!

I thought the same, spoke to longlife who do this and they reckon it's not an MOT failure at all.

I must stress my limited mechanical knowledge but my understanding is a res delete wouldn’t effect anything to do with emissions, which I believe are the main changes to the MOT process from this year.

I was discussing this with the Service Manager when I booked my car in for a service the other day and nothing was mentioned about emissions and MOT failure. I was trying to get them to clarify what impact it would had on the warranty but they were very cagey on the subject. Basically said if anything went wrong particularly to do with the engine / turbo etc they may invalidate the warranty and it sounded like the owness would be on me to prove the res delete didn’t cause / have an impact on the fault.

Still haven’t decided what I’m going to do, but wondered if anyone on here with a bit more techincal knowledge could advise what impact a res delete could have on the engine turbo etc, as I haven’t got a clue.

Would be my main concern with going ahead with it. Not sure it's worth the risk... I know you see quite a bit on this topic saying all will be fine etc it will only affect the exhaust warranty. It may be a different story if you actually had to make a warranty claim.

I've stuck by my decision to go with the BCS Res Delete ever since I fitted it to my car, many people on here saying I was bonkers for paying so much when you can get it done for £90 elsewhere etc and still stick to my decision yet.

I have a FL Saloon and can provide videos upon request. Certain video you want to see? Let me know and I'll get it made.

No - the centre delete is not an MOT failure - we have an MOT station here and it's fine...
Just done a down pipe and 100 cell cat with centre silencer delete on a saloon and it sounds great - lots of crackles ;-)
Cheers

Does holding the engine unloaded at 2500 rpm cause extra noise with a res delete pipe? Probably not, so should satisfy the new MOT requirements.

The MOT Inspection Manual
8 Nuisance
Issue Date: May 2018
8.1 Noise
8.1.1 Noise suppression system You must inspect:
• exhaust silencers
• under-bonnet noise deadening material fitted as original equipment – you don't need to inspect this for Class 3 vehicles

You must use your judgement to assess exhaust noise:
• during the emissions test for the vehicle
• rev the engine to around 2,500rpm or half the maximum engine speed if this is lower on vehicles not subject to an emissions test

Exhaust noise from the vehicle must not be unreasonably above the noise level you'd expect from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition.

I went for a £60 res delete from a local garage... don’t regret it one bit. Driving below 3k revs no drone whatsoever. So sitting on motorway you can hit 100 and no drone. (I have facelift with 7 gears) sounds so much better when booting it too! Louder when you want to be and only slightly louder when you want it to be. You learn to control how much noise the car makes.

I would like to give a massive thanks to nige for fitting my downpipe and res-delete.
Love how it is like stock when in comfort but put it in dynamic and at 3,000rpm when the valves open it gets nice and loud like I have just flicked a switch for loudness haha.
Spool is so much faster, pulls so much smother and I got a extra 6mpg going home which is a bonus, and I was in more traffic on the way back.
Will right more of a review later after it’s been back to MRC for a map tweek.

Don't suppose you got a video of said car combo?

I should try do some videos of my PFL with the bcs res delete. My AWE remote to open and close the valves should be here any day now so will do it after it arrives.

Do you know what - I'm gutted as I should've shot one, it sounded epic and Chris was really thrilled with it - especially after the test drive (..even in the rain).
Promise I will do one next time ...

judgement and exhaust noise........just love it, so subjective, so random.
mbike exhaust noise has been done like this for years, anybody noticed a reduction in exhaust noise from mbikes? my open piped Harley never had issues as the tester always shrugged and passed it.
