I fitted some votgland springs and shocks to my 2004 a3 back in around 2014. I'm looking to change the springs because I want it to be lower than what I currently have at 50 mm. Would it be okay to just change the springs as the shocks were changed before?

Also can anyone recommend some good spring around the £150 budget please?

Thanks in advance

Lol based in London which has the worst humps I have ever come across but bought some new wheels which won't look good unless the car is abit more lower.

I wouldn't drive around the capital in anything lower than a Land Rover Defender.

I have had my S3 lowered by 20mm on Eibach springs around a ( £120 ) now they are excellent and i can go over humps with ease but what i would say if you ever need your car recovered by a recovery truck you would have issues trying to get it up the ramps .

To answer your question in a word - yes.

However, I assumed 40 or 50mm lowering was the most you could go with just springs. I think you may need to swap to coilovers to go lower?

I have lived/worked in West London in the past, I dunno how you drive your car without problems lowered 50mm already never mind lower!

Haha yeah but I already have limited my routes to those without humps ever since going to 50. I think you're right and will have to go for collies. Are there any good ones for around 200?

Not gonna lie I have very little knowledge of coilovers...there are other members well versed in them however and I'm sure they'll offer their advice.

I reckon you'd want to maybe save for a little longer and spend a bit more money to get some good ones though.

I only buy suspension from Damian, perhaps he can help... @DPM

£200 coilovers will only last a few years and won't be very good to start with .

Sorry to hijack, I’m currently in same predicament thinking about b4’s on sportlines approx 40-50mm and £300ish. What Coilovers can I get for similar buck? avoiding JOM/FK etc. Potato quality...

Found these: http://racelandeurope.com/audi/a3-2003/audi-a3-8p-ultimo-coilovers-55mm-strut-diameter.html

@DPM

V-Maxx would be the next level up -

I'd say the build quality is better with the AP kits but the ride quality is better with the V-Maxx.

After thorough research on v-maxxx’s vs AP’s I can say people tend to knock v-max coilovers for lack of stiffness comparing them with OEM suspension but adjustable,
as for AP’s I have only seen good reviews and recommendations in regards to performance and quality. Still thinking which ones to go for.. though everything points to AP’s

Best prices found:
AP’s - £400
V-maxxx - £330
