Hi all I have a 06 a4 2.0tdi 140 I've been doing regular trips on the motorway but I've noticed lately the car won't rev above 2.5k 3k in 6th it just seems to loose power if I get to 3k. Does anybody have any ideas what this could be or would I need to take it to somebody to have it plugged in ?

You need to get it checked for fault codes. If it is losing power and a restart resolves that then the car is going into limp mode.
Could well be a boost related issue. But can also be caused by other issues. Not much point in guessing you need to get the fault codes read. Are there any engine management lights or other diagnostic lights illuminated ? .

Nothing shows up on dash car is fine in all lower gears but when I select 6th and put my foot down it happens then affects all gears until I restart. I thought it would be dpf but I've drove approx 150miles city and motorway and it still happens. It's had a recon turbo in the last 18months and the cars only done 4-5k since.

Will a fault code still show up once I've restarted the car?

If it's going into limp mode fault codes will be stored . I would have a quick look around all the boost pipes and see if any have split in them. You can usually spot splits and leaks as there will be wet oil patches by them due to the crankcase fumes being blown through the intake system.

Okay so I just looked for a split couldn't really see anything obvious apart from an oil build up around the lower connector from air filter pipe. Could this be the cause ?
