Facelift Cheapest Res-delete kits

Just spoke to two longlife dealers in birmingham and got quoted around the £220 mark! They said bring it in Saturday and hopefully will get it closer to the £100 mark but otherwise I'm probably better off buying an aftermarket pipe and having it fitted myself ...

Serious? :lmfao: Crazy!!

No just put a tank of fuel in the car and trek down to South Wales to have it done for £70

Mine was £170 at top gear performance in Doncaster which is a power flow I think

Ok decision time - cheapest longlife will do is £150. Am I better off paying a bit more and going for the awesomegti kit ?

Nope, exactly the same! But don't pay £150 either!! £70 for the same job!!

So the work hasn't actually been done for £70 yet ?

Yes it has, haha.

I paid £120 for mine to be interchangeable so clamped on both sides. But it was leaking so they welded it up for free.

My mate went and had it down 2 weeks ago, he called up Caerphilly and they quoted £70. They know the job well as have done a few thanks to me.

Nothing wrong with that, it's a great community :D

I'd highly recommend the delete, makes the car what it always should have been.

Do you get drone with your standard res delete?

It really depends on how each individual defines drone, you really have to hear it.

The car is silent when cruising, slow build up of speed through 2500-3200rpm creates a loud exhaust tone in the cabin.

i need o get involved in this. I fitted four new tailpipes to back end as my orignal were pitted, however it still doest sound the part.
Am i just asking the local exhaust palces to fit resonator delete?

EMP Performance, St Albans, 90 quid fully fitted. Quality! trust me, there fabricator the nuts. makes the pipe in front of you.

Can i still "mute" the sound with drive select when deleting the resonator? Basically when i feel sporty i want nice sound out of my S3 but also be able to mute the sound when i drive to my grandmom :)

Is that possible?

Yes, you hear the difference a lot more when the valves open and close. But, you still get the drone just slightly muted.

I don't understand you people are adiment on getting the cheapest price possible I would rather take my car to somewhere with a proven reputation for good quality and pay their price then John in the back street garage and he's poor welding skills

Sorted, another great deal found! It will be exactly the same as the Golf, just maybe a different exhaust path.

I used a reputable place. They came recommended to me by our independent that specialises in Jap cars.. 1000hp builds and alike. I trust them and their judgement. They said any other Longlife is crap, but the they recommended said is the best work around.
They are always flat out, have a huge unit and never had any issues. Just because it's cheap, it doesn't mean it's sub-standard work and I certainly wouldn't settle for that on my car.

I looked up long life closer to home and some of the reviews were terrible to say the least !!!
It will be a trip over the bridge to sunny South Wales in a few months for me to res delete @ long life Caerphilly :s3addict:

I'm really not sure of all this obsession with res deletes. No offence intended, but the ones I've heard just sound horrendous. Plus a former member on here did it, hated the noise, lost power and torque and paid double to have it reversed there and then!
Maybe the Facelift sounds nicer?

Woah woah woah, loss of power and torque ? Anyone else have a similar experience with the resonator delete ? If this is true I'm not going to touch it !

I have just fitted my Powervalve Anti-drone res delete tonight. It was close to the £300 sheets mark, but it's an industry first in an anti-drone pipe.

First impressions on a 3 mile drive (it was getting very late and I'm at work in the morning).

  • Can hear it crack and burble on startup.
  • About 30% louder at idle. *
  • When driving, definite noticeable difference
  • DSG farts 50% louder *
  • Car sounds as it should have from factory.
Only other mods is a DTUK tuning box.

* Very rough guesstimates. Can update in due course with further thoughts as I start putting miles on it with the delete kit.

Notice that your going to fit Dtuk unit, have fitted these to my petrol and diesel cars but have noticed that Dtuk now using a different type of controller is yours the latest type??

Sounds good to me, PM me if you want when you are closer to doing it and I shall meet you there if you want to introduce you.

It definitely sounds better.

Well, mine was put on a dyno shortly after and it has 336hp standard, 30 up from book so I'm not so sure about the power loss.

It can't possibly make a power loss, doesn't increase back pressure it's simply just a silencer and Audi told me that.

As long as I'm off work (shifts) I will try my best to get down to see you. Longlife are open all day on Saturdays too, if that helps.

Not saying just cosnits cheap no it doesn't make it **** but if you are advising people it can be done for 70 and they go round everywhere just looking for the cheapest then Yano all I was saying is yeah get it as cheap as you can but make sure that the place offering you it cheap has a top quality reputation
