Top and bottom of it I were dancing wit a tuned 8p s3 or rs3 which resulted in cracked windscreen n numerous stone chips lesson definitely learned last night

Autoglass
So will my auto wipers be affected and What's there glass like? As my insurer will not give me genuine OEM glass will the quality of the glass be any good ?

I had to use them back in April and had to call them back as they did not fit the rear view mirror properly (and noticed my auto wipers were not operating correctly) , the warrant chap come to have a look and found that the glass I had was faulty so he could not stick the module down properly.

They ended up ordering a proper Audi screen.

Out of interest what did he say that was his reasoning for the glass being faulty? Apart from rear view mirror and auto wipers not being correct

The warranty guy who come out said it was a manufacturing defect and that the area were the sensor and rear view mirror sit was not flat as it was rocking when applying pressure.

Autoglass mentioned they would send this back to Pilkington Glass.

Hopefully yours will go more smoothly :D

I'm pretty sure Pilkington make both OEM and spares under the heading of a different area within the business probably comes from the same production line the only difference 'should' be the printed trademark.

I'd never use autoglass again after last time + push for an OE screen as the cheap standard issue insurance screen will be rubbish.

Spoke to insurance today and the manager agreed oem so I'm well happy more important I would of hope the person in the 62 plate 8p would tell me what hardware he had cuz I couldn't keep at all

i had 2 non-OE screens fitted to my C6, both of which had problems (down to the fitting not the glass) - Autoglass then agreed to fit on OE screen (properly)

the fitter did point out that the OE screen was actually made by the same company (FJ i think) - on the non-OE the screen was etched with FJ logo, and the OE screen with an Audi logo (with a small FJ one under it) - so don't always believe that "OE" screens are better, chances are they are the same

funnily enough after the issues i had with fittings (3 screens total) - my dealer told me they could have repaired it through the insurance too, so worth a try if you don't want Autoglass
