What would be the best choice b12 or b14 ?

My car is like new at the underside but the cheap coilovers i fitted are just rubbish ! i can get a nice discount on bilstein kits so it's almost certain i will order one of these 2 !

What would be the best choice ?

Also added a picture of the underside overhaul :)

Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit Suspension Kit - Lowered Ride Height, Fixed Damping

The Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit Suspension Kit is what you get when you combine industry leading dampers with the winning name in performance springs. It is the ideal suspension kit to fit-and-forget. The fixed rate legendary Bilstein dampers (B6 Sport or B8 Sprint depending on application) are matched to the winning performance of Eibach Pro-Kit springs, giving a kit that will transform the looks and handling of your car - giving less body roll And vastly improved dynamics. Simply put, a great handling car for fast road use, with a lowered stance.

The Eibach Pro-Kit springs lower the car approx 25-30mm, And the dampers are fixed rate. There's nothing to adjust, so you can fit and enjoy. No damping rates to adjust, no ride heights or corner weights to adjust - Eibach And Bilstein have done all the hard work so you don't have to.

The Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit is the perfect choice for those wanting the highest performance, mildly lowered suspension kit (25-30mm), without any hassle of adjustability. For a more aggressive lowered stance (45-50mm), choose the Bilstein B12 Sportline suspension kit.

On vehicles where sports suspension is a factory option (e.g. Audi S-Line, BMW M-Sport, Mercedes AMG-Line) the lowering amount shown is for vehicles without. If your vehicle has optional sports suspension you will have to deduct the amount the vehicle is already lowered by. This can be up to 30mm.

Bilstein B14 PSS Coilover Suspension Kit - Adjustable Ride Height, Fixed Rate Damping

Bilstein B14 PSS Ride Height Adjustable Kits are an adjustable ride height system front And rear, with factory tuned, fixed rate damping. Bilstein's extensive motorsport experience And Original Equipment damper manufacturing has enabled them to produce a range of coilover suspension kits that are specifically designed for each application And suited perfectly for performance driving on the road.

The B14 PSS Coilover Kit's gas pressurised damping has been optimised for fast road driving - good ride quality at low speeds, ultra stable at high speed, And suitable for everyday use. The triple C Technology used for surface coating gives long lasting corrosion resistance, And the round threads And special alloy spring plates enable easy height adjustment for years to come.

  • Bilstein's Mono-Tube damper technology
  • Triple C coated coilover housings for long lasting corrosion resistance And good looks
  • Round threads And special alloy spring plates for easy height adjustment
  • Designed, developed And tested for each application
  • Supplied with necessary bump stops
  • Excellent suspension travel retained - a must for decent hAndling on poor roads
  • German TUV certified, made in Germany
Note: Coilover height adjustable units are supplied front & rear where possible. Where rear suspension design does not allow for coilovers, alternative height adjustable or lowered units are supplied.

On vehicles where sports suspension is an option, lowering amounts shown are for vehicles without sports suspension. If factory sports suspension is fitted, the factory lowering amount will have to be deducted from the lowering amount shown. This can be as much as 30mm (e.g. Audi S-Line, BMW M-Sport, AMG-Line etc.)

Depends on what you use it for , would be interesting to find out spring rates .

B14 for a not cheap coilover is still only fixed rate damping .

how often does the average person actually adjust their adjustable dampers???

if you can get a good discount go the coilovers for sure! adjustable height & firm yet comfortable.

Depends if you give the spring any pre load , the spring rate increases significantly per 1mm of pre load .

No, it doesn't... it reduces amount of travel for a given amount of force, by a fixed amount.

So far, I've done it once... often aspire to do it, but never seem to get round to it :)

it's like coilovers - how often do you actually adjust the height once you've found your "everyday" height? lol

i mean i know for trips (long country drives where our roads have undulations that cause scrubbing because of the high speeds) i would raise the car and when back doing the normal day to day driving around town i would slam her back down - but that would be like 1-2 a year if that.

ANYWAY - back on topic (sorry OP)

Every day height is Bilstein B12 as the engineers have spent a long time developing on what is good .

i'm using the s3 only on dry days for a spirited drive and 2-3 track days a year and some meetings !

B12 would cost me 585 euro and the b14 730 euro .

I just ordered a B14 kit. If you'll wait 1.5 months (time for it to arrive) I'll write up a review for you. :p

And the same engineering haven't been put by the same engineer on their B14?

They are the based on the same inverted monotube dampers BTW (except for different valving).

One has more sporty valving -- one is more geared toward comfort.

One is more compact with lower unsprung weight -- the other is a standard replacement with heavier hardware.

One offers adjustability -- the other is fixed.

That pretty much sums it up and the decision should be based on used and budget because one is clearly an upgrade over the other.

Sheesh that's pretty low. Donno if I'll drop it that far, but it does look great. Lebanese roads are horrid and I'd worry if I dropped it that low (and my underground parking at home as as steep incline to get into).

Might you, by any chance, have a pic on how high it goes? I'm curious. :p

Very minimum price difference! In Italy B12 are street legal use, instead B14 aren't: does in UK the same? Thank you :)

when i first installed it i had them at about 2/3rds heigh thinking "i'll be safe to start with" and they looked slightly higher than stock - so all the way up and i think you would be ok to go 4x4 x-country style driving! hahahaha (i can't find the photos sorry :( )

this is the height at the front with the helper spring in and set to the lowest possible setting. it's a little bit more responsible (rear adjustment is wound up to even the level)

we are lucky here in Melbourne - our roads are so smooth so being this low is not a problem.... until you go into a shopping centre carpark! see ya later exhaust :(

Does B12 use "Prokit" (- 30 mm) or Sportline (- 50 mm) springs? Thank you.

How much B12 lower car then stock? Thank you.

I know this is an old thread but anyone can help with a link from where I can orde Bilstein B12 Pro Kit for Audi A4 B8 2010 2.0TDI?
I’ve heard that I will need some extra parts for my car except the kit... anyone can comment on that?
Many thanks in advance.
