hi friends was iam going to do a 2 din conversion. iam going to fit a consert headunit. from a b7, got the quad lock connector. and just rememberd i need the antenna connector too. was hoping to use the small yellow facra one for know but it will not fit the headunit. when i get the adaptor for the antenna will this be sufficent to give me good radio reception. any help ref. this would be greatlly appricated.
thanks all nelly.

I fitted a rnse into my cab and have very bad radio will one of these gadgets fix it for me ???

I'm not sure to be honest mate, is the back of the rnse the same as the concert 3 with a twin fakra?

Just been out to check my car and I have a signal connector and I need a double so just ordered me one of the above

Hi Guys, on a slight tangent..

Does moving the heating and aircon controls to the bottom portion (the void where sunglasses can go etc) need any adaption? It could be an illusion but the bottom portion looks the narrowest?

At some stage im planning to get an ahdroid system and move the above to the bottom portion.

You have to trim the sides of the air con unit also you have to cut away a little bit of Center console to make it fit

Think there is also a different ashtray for single or double din models. Not sure though, might be talking bull.
I have rns-e from standard so no need to change to double din.

Thanks Matt and Gordy.

As much as i like my OEM setup at the minute, it definitely needs a BIG screen slap bang in the middle for all my video pleasures..:)

It's just the bit that clips in behind the front ash tray that's different.

I've just done the conversion myself at the weekend just gone and as JIMMYTDI says its the bit of trim behind the front ashtray, it needs cutting down just behind the clips on the underside that secure it to the car.

I guess that's what gordy meant when he said cut away the centre console.

i think he may have meant cutting the physical upright part of the centre console in order to fit the double din cage correctly. The bit i actually thought i balls'd up and was going to need a new centre console lol.

There is indeed two different ash trays, single and double dinn although a single will fit you can get a double.

Thank you. I was almost 90% sure of this, but they had me doubting. Put it this way, my ash tray doesn't look like those in the single din, or with single to double conversation.

I thought I was going mad for a second lol

You don't need to change the ash tray though.

You have to cut two bits of the centre console away behind where the climatronic sits. This is because of the slight difference in shape of the cages, you can't see it once the climatronic is fitted though.

Sorry guys, i may be going round in circles but;

Q1 - when I eventually purchase an android double din unit, is it a straight fit into the console or do i need to get a cage or even 'trim to fit' ?
This may be different from android unit to android and best to contact them sorry)

Q2 - when i essentially push the aircon unit down, (as Gordy says) I would need to trim the edges of the console or unit or both?

Q1 - Youll need to get a double din cage to replace your current single din, can fit either b6 or b7, i used 8e0858005f. but you still have to trim the centre console, its obvious to see where to trim when you have the items in front of you.

Q2 - As regards the air con unit if your using your single din one then yes youll need to trim the sides, i decided to replace mine with a proper double din as it requires no trimming and was in alot better condition then my original single din one.

Hope this helps

In short you will need to trim both.
Send me your email address and I'll forward you on a pdf that shows all that is needed to be done.

Not quite IF you are using a single din centre console. See pic.

Yeah it's ok if you have another a4 to strip that comes with all the parts, which is where I'm guessing you're getting them from, Neil. Good job though, professional throughout!!

cheers mate. i stripped an avant which had all the parts, plus it had the wiring for a nav plus, which is the next job if all goes to plan, i like to do things as audi would have done it. dont like cutting parts to make stuff fit. but then thats just me i guess.

Nah i understand. I want it all oem and nothing more. Why navigation plus and not rns-e? Isn't navigation plus the rns-low or rns-d? I love my larger screened rns-e, and it says AUDI navigation plus, but just navigation plus lol

Just taken from a thread over at audizine

Rns-e is newer and better. big improvements were the switch from CD based navigation to DVD based (more info can be stored on a DVD I think), the addition of MP3 SD card slots (a big plus in my book), bigger screen, bluetooth compatibility, and more updated look and feel. Both RNS-E and RNS-D will hook up to the B6, so no worries there. It's worth the extra money to go RNS-E.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/251862-RNS-D-vs-RNS-E

The one you're looking at (from the other thread) is an rns-d. The e looks so much nicer though!
