Hi,

I've recently picked up my first Audi, an A4 B8 2.0tdi S Line with Multitronic and have to say really liking it.

Read up on a few bits and pieces so thought it would be good to start a thread to cover the bits and pieces I'll be doing with it.

First up is enroute to work I've managed to pick up a stone and crack my fog light so will be searching ebay for that.

I've also got an Airbag light on the dash and the "Passenger Air Bag Is Off" button lit up. The car hasn't been involved in an accident so sounds like this might be the common module under the seat? I'll be hooking it up to a VAG-COM soon to check for codes to be sure as well as activating dial sweep and chirp.

Couple pictures:

If anyone can shed any further light or advice on the airbag light I would be happy to hear!

Cheers

Is the airbag deactivating switch in the glovebox set to 'Off''?

Something easy to check.

I was going to say what Darren says, the maybe find someone with VCDS to explore it further.
Looks good though.

Thanks guys, i didnt think of that at all so will check later - heres hoping!

Thanks Gray, i really like the blue, i havent seen many of them around in this colour.

Switch is On. So looks like it's VCDS to determine the fault

So i found in the service history that the car had been to Audi in April to investigate the light. They performed a VAGCOM check and reported no codes found, their advice was to book it in with them for a physical check of components at a cost of £160inc VAT.

Is there anything i can check with the above in mind?

very strange airbag light on with not dtc reported from module...
did they give a print out of the report..

Nope, no print out. Think I should do my own scan to check as well then if it's odd?

Take it to an Audi specialist.

Take it to an Audi specialist.
This ^^^

you could end up wasting loads of time and chasing alsorts trying to sort it yourself without fully knowing what's wrong.

So, run through with VCDS. No code at all for the air bag. Thinking maybe it's a faulty switch as there is no change when switching between on and off in the glovebox.

I did get codes for DPF and air con. I wonder whether someone can help me diagnose what they mean and how to resolve :-S

Think I'll have to get the car to an Audi specialist to investigate the air bag light.

Anyone have any ideas with regards to Air bag light?

I'm taking from the above codes that the Differential Pressure Sensor and A/C Pressure Sensor need replacing too.

I wouldn't worry to much about the AC looks like you may have a little too much pressure in there. It may been overfilled if it has been serviced recently. should be a quick check with a pressure meter at a garage to see.
You need to sort the DPF pressure sensor, this is quite common and means the ECU cannot properly gauge the sate of the DPF so can lead to the DPF getting filled up with all the consequential issues that brings.
Very strange that there are no fault codes for the air bag light at all. Maybe a bit of a 3 pin reset required, try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so and see if that prompts any change.

Thank you for your reply, very much appreciated.

Looks like the sensor is very easily replaced so i'll get on to that now, see whether i can get a good price for one rather than main dealer. Would you expect there would be anything needed to reset or do on VCDS after the sensor is replaced?

Thanks also regarding the airbag light, i'll try the battery trick to see whether that makes a difference.
