Anyone used this?

I decided to bite the bullet and pay the extortionate price for the customisable version.

I've got a 2010 A3 8p 170 CR. Anyway it works. It's added the option menu on my dash to turn on coming home lights (and works) and option to change what's used for DRL's.

Can also do all sorts of tweaks like turn on fog corning lights, knock off all lights if you remove the key, turn on beep if car locked/unlocked, turn on auto lane changer indicators and maybe another 20 or 30 tweaks.

I'm happy. Going to email them to see if they will add a few more tweaks that can be done via the VCDS software.

Saw your post and gave it a go, set both doors to unlock on 1 press for free!. That's been annoying me for years. Well worth the money for the proper fault codes too, getting pro version.

Yea I did that change as well lol.

Ive changed a few things, currently got my fog lights as coming home lights You just flash your headlights and then set it to either turn on lights when you turn off the ignition or open your door. Mines when I open the door. YOu can adjust the time they stay on. Once you activate this is actually becomes an option in the display on your cars menu so you dont need your phone to keep changing it.

Only one customised option I don't think works is the fog corning lights. Not sure they are coming on.

Occasionally when it scans to see what can be customised not all options come up. When you rescan again you get more, guess it times out occassionally. Also sometimes it cant save your option. I just turn blue tooth off, exit the app then restart it and works.
Make sure your doors are unlocked when you start the customisable option. If not it prompts you to unlock them, but then for some reason wont save any options meaning you have to restart.

Works fine once you avoid these little issues although I am testing their beta version so these bugs might not be in the offiical release.

Corning for lights do work now. Didnt realise headlights had to be on for them to work.

Well happy for £14 :D

Thanks for this OP!

Used the free version to enable all doors unlocking with one press of the button, which has been driving me nuts!

Upgraded to pro anyway as have quite a few VAGs in family and friends circle and the diagnostics element seems way better than DashCommand!

Enabled coming home lights but IIRC I need a repair lead to make this work. Just gotta find one somewhere.

App really saved the need for VCDS at this stage, well happy

No problem :) different customisable options are available depending on model. You can drill down through the help guides and it tells you what's available.

I was lucky being a 2010 model i just enabled the coming home lights using carista then when I stop and remove keys I do a quick headlight flash and when I open the door I've chose my dogs to come on. Initially had the xenons but fogs are lower and light my driveway better without blinding me. You can fiddle with all sorts like auto turn off foglights with full beam etc.

I only wanted coming home lights as my insignia had them and I often get home from work at 3am so it was really handy. The rest was a bonus ;)

where do you see the option to adjust the timing etc for the coming home lights?

in the app there are two options one being Automatic and the other user defined, but can't actually see anywhere to change these settings. Didn't notice any menus in DIS either, maybe the prefacelifts need the repair wire to get this working properly?

Mine gave option to change the time underneath the enable option however once enabled the coming home.lights option and time settings then became available.

Not sure this photo will upload.

But this app gave me these 2 new menus. DRL one let's me decide what lights i want as running lights. Can change to fogs or head lights. 2nd is the main.menu for coming home lights which then has an enable disable option and timing from 15 secs to i think a max of 60 seconds.

With the app you can also change seat belt warning or standard light setup. I.e. changing to Netherlands means you can have DRL lights on and rear lights at the same time. You can have it set to knock DRL's off if handbrake is on etc. Loads of configuration options on mine.

Ah cool. I think that might be for later cars then as I didn't get that menu. Not alls lost as found a guide using a repair wire to make it work alongside the changes this app makes, same changes that VCDS makes I guess.

Will try this on a mates 2011 a3 tomorrow and see if he gets the menus etc :)

I'm not sure that I get it, do they charge for each customisation or does the pro version give you access to all customisations?

Once you pay the one off fee you get access to anything that the app can do once connected to your car. It's unlimited to changes and cars you can connect to. The customisations available will depend on your car but before you pay you can download the free version then using help menu look up your car model.and see what's available.

Forgot to add that I was also able to enable auto open and close of windows by key fob on my 3 door sline version ;)

As jps says, what it can do depends on your car, but from what I gather on a3s at least is open all doors with one button press is free, then the rest needs the pro kit.

Working fine with my super cheap wifi dongle :)

Anyone could recomend a ELM327 OBD Adapter to use with the Carista app? I have seen many on Ebay but not sure if they will be the addecuate ones.. wich ones guys are you using?

Many thanks

Look up item number 221825199727 on ebay. Thats the vgate model i use..This worked on my insignia and my A3. I've had a.cheaper one at half the cost (different version) and had issues with it.

If you look at that one above their is a few others up exactly the same but slightly cheaper.

Thanks for your reply, but I have an Android mobile and this one seems to be only for ipad ipod as per the tittle? also does it work only via wifi? is not bluetooth?

Many thanks

I.never read description but you want the vgate model. Mines bluetooth and on an android.

I found this cable on Ebay and i think is same of urs..will this work Item 221934232771

Also does it work via Bluethooth or wifi?

Many thanks

That's the one I have. Mines bluetooth only but works fine with torque and carista. I had a cheaper one but it didn't work on my old vauxhall. This even work's on my partners BMW too ;)

Sorted I bought it.. I hope it works fine on my Audi A3 2.0 TDI 59 plate.. I just want to scan the car to check if everything is OK and maybe do some cool mod..only thing is that I don't have autolights on mine.. Any recommended mods that works using carista and this adaptor? Also what's the difference with torque app?
Many thanks for ur help.. I'm new on all this.. ;)

I have an iPhone and would this app work with the above adapter as it doesn't mention the name for other supported apps - just wanted to check before purchase?

THe app above is.bought on android playstore. You would need to check on the iPhone store if it's available.

Torque app is more for using the sensor information and outputting to dials/graphs etc so you ca n show boost, speed, revs literally everything.

My car doesn't have auto lights either but you can still activate coming home lights you just manually flash the headlights before leaving car and when you open the door either the fog lights or main beam light up depending what you choose.

Yeh I want the home comming lights feature where I turn my car on and headlights come on.

I've seen it on the App Store under carista obd2 app - guessing it's same one

I presume that adapted would be fine then?

I also want it to use to turn eml light off (Evap code comes on now and then) quickly through phone and says with the device it has features to do this with one of those apps

The leaving home lights will only work with auto lights. Coming home works with manual or auto. Yes that adapter looks the same as I have.

It does have a reset option for oil and service indicators and for fault codes but in have no faults *fingers crossed* to check that it works.

Anyone its been succesfull in activating the indicator flasher change it from 3 to 4 or 5? When i do it says that you need to reset the mdf (Multifunctional display) in order for it to work.. any ideas??

Also I enabled the Comming home lights but they activate straight away when i flash the highlights beam.. wich option do i need to change in order for them to come on only when i open the door?(previous having flashed the highlights)

Thanks in advance for your help

ps. Also does anyone has tried the beta version? what is the difference?

I've got the beta version but can't notice any differecent. For the coming home lights it gave me another option underneath to have them come on after once ignition was turned off and door opened so I choose the door.

Never tried changing the indicators though.

I successfully changed the lane change indicators on my friends 2011 A3, and both coming home and leaving home lights on my 2007 without auto lights using the repair wire mod kicking around the forum and Carista.

It's a great app!

Mmm a bit difficult for my diy likes... :( involves cables and so.. I could try but not sure if worth the risk..What about the lane change flash how u did it .. just vdcs?

Just used Carista and set his flash from 3 to 4, same as you would do in VCDS

This is what I did use carista.. But did not save the change for some reason.. Working first but then after starting up again the car not working more..
For the mod of coming/ leaving home lights the switch where u plug the repair plug is the lights switch or the ECU switch bit confusing after the point where it says detach ECU switch from trim.. Also can I use one of those vagcom cable and software that eBay's sell £6 or £7 to then code for the end of the lights mod? Will also b useful for the lane change indicator?..

Item 351617779153 on EBay for example?
Many thanks

I've still not tried the lane change mod yet. How's it work? Does it go off your speed and steering angle to detect your changinger lanes and then indicate for you?

Hi, I was looking to enable the rear lights when the DRL's are on..

I can't find Netherlands on the menu.

Instrument cluster region (affects ext. lights too)

Them are the only options I get? I'm presuming that is the correct menu.

No, it works by pushing your indicator stalk up or down (left or right) but not all the way you just push it until you feel resistance then just let it go and your indicators will flash to whatever you set it at., it comes under the comfort settings.
