So recently got new alloys in anthracite with a chrome rim on my black avant

Problem is I now can't decide if I should keep or delete my chrome window trim and roof bars and it's doing my head in

So days a think it looks great then I see a blacked out on and I think wow that looks better

Just wanted to hear people's opinions to try help me decide what to do

Is anyone a master at photo shop ??

Thanks

As it is now....

I like the Crome on it and keep it like that if not it's too much black imo

Black, no doubt.

Just had an idea (as an alternative) if you are unsure about the black, how about anthracite? Might take the brightness away and match your scheme. Not sure if it will look good or not.

I'd keep the chrome too.

How far are you going to go? Black the tail lights out, black exhaust tips, black calipers as they will look a little daft if they are the only thing not black on the car.

Chop. My vote is to keep a bit of chrome. I recon it gives the car some of its shape. Particularly the Avant because of the longer roofline. In my eyes it looks just right the way it is.

Originally I was going full black with everything, wheels, exhaust etc but it's evolved on and off as iv done bits here and there iv not got a set plan I just like to find what looks the best

@chucky1 I'm slightly leaning towards the chrome that's left staying as it is, gave it a good wash today and it was looking very nice if I don't say so myself

How you getting on with the beast ?

Chop. It's pretty hard from photos as you know. I liked the completely blacked out look of a tail shot a while back, but as you said, the car kinda lacked shape. Seeing it in the flesh, as against pics, they don't normally do these cars justice. The beast ? Ha ha it's mental. Last bit of bling should arrive today. Scored an R8 coolant cap from a part out, so under the bonnet is all done. Forming embryonic ideas about brakes now.

I would keep the mirrors silver or a smoked wrap to look black anodised

I did like the silver too but like you say once u see the black it totally changes it

I'll do roof and windows and leave mirrors see what it's like

Could go anthracite with the mirrors

I like that ties in with wheels nice

Haha Que all the photo shop requests :-0

Thanks again though

Personally, I'd leave the wing mirrors and the roof rails chrome, to match the silver Audi rings front and back, the exhaust tips and the chrome wheel rims. I'd also leave the rear diffuser oem colour which ties in with the anthracite wheels and the cf Supercharged badges. Too much black and your beautiful car might lose definition. Just my tuppence worth!

Black is great, but how about carbon for the mirrors?
And definitely rework the calipers.
Alloy combination is nice, but the chrome ring decreases the rim size ( with more black outside the chrome). But the effect of the spokes across the chrome is really unusual.

Headlights start to bring the front end back to highlight, which decreases the lovely grill effect. Not sure I'd want to mess with stock Xenons, yet that framework is such a pity. I ended up getting a gray A4 to allow the lights to stay as-is.

You have front DRLs, which you need with a dark car, but you almost need rear DRLs when you go so dark!

Thanks for the ideas guys

All the things you've mentioned is what I'm trying to achieve, it's finding the right balance with what I have, the rear diffuser has been black then back to oem colours as it tied in better with wheels

I feel I need to keep some anthracite so it ties in with the rims, I'm not against blacking out the badges but I feel something has to tie in with the chrome on the rims too

I like the all black out but it does hide a lot of the shape of the car, I think it will be a lot of trial and error till I'm finally happy

Also got to agree with @Beo since my cabbie has an amount of alloy to give definition, around the grill and the windscreen, but the headlights are darkened.
The rings, of course, stand out a treat!

Still need to work out what to do with the rear, not seen a spoiler that suits, etc.

At the end of the day, it's what suits your taste. And sometimes the right contrast can make the effect better, without severity.

Ah food decisions I can do !

You don't get to my size with food issues, or is that without food issues im not sure

Enjoy

I take it that you've noticed the blackened car is so attractive it stopped the rain.
Watch out for that sort of thing when comparing apparently similar photos...
