My RS3 Review

The car has otherwise been great, still getting to grips with the S Tronic kick down & surge but I do find turning off stop/start makes the experience a whole lot better around-town. The car felt as sure footed as we have come to expect from quattro in some very heavy down pours last night but I still cannot believe how quickly it gets to 70mph (+/- 10% and a bit:grinning:)

LED Headlights are exceptional, especially with the driving light function on. I also found the brakes to be very positive in the wet with no sign of fade or lack of ?bite?

I have also filled up with Shell V Power this week, 130p/litre.........wow liquid gold or what?! My other half is convinced that the car drives better for it? Well she drives it more than me so that must be right....maybe?!

The guys in Shell actually came out to listen to the start up of the car, they were very complimentary about the RS3 and I left the forecourt to a big thumbs up...cheers guys but next time perhaps just a bit of staff discount?!

Anyway, car has been cleaned and put to bed now doesn't need to come out for a week or so.

Fair play and well handled. I think I'd have lost the plot at te precise moment with the shop staff.

I hope not. Maybe she's a poor journalist running out of material. Not the profession it once was with falling readerships I would imagine. But still it sends out a pretty nasty message.

That sort of attitude really f*cks me off. It is someones choice what they spend their hard earned on. Just sounds like a bitter cow if I am being honest

Bitter and twisted old boot!

She clearly forgets too that 'pooling about' in these cars is what we are doing!!! Lol

Seriously though, she states that people with these cars 'worth more than houses' are capable of 201mph, but the speed limit is 70mph. Fair enough, but if she left the UK (or even Scotland!) she would find a place called Germany, where there are things called "Autobahns" where (if you time it right) you can go a bit faster than 70mph, legally! Personal best? 156mph on a derestricted part of the A2 passed Hannover.

Get a frickin life woman!!!

And those Autobahns rarely see accidents.

Looking forward to seeing more photos Schuey.. Have ordered black pack for RS3, have alu on current S3 and wifes old black 8P Black edition was all black so thought we'd go all black for the RS... but from what I can see the alu looks great.

Popped into work today & a colleague with an R asked if I'd taken delivery, told him yep and that I'd missed him when he was last in, so, told him hang around ( In work..... Ha ha!) went back and picked up the RS3.

I handed him the keys and off he went ( Had to provide cover for him hence we can't both leave)

On his return he categorically stated the RS3 felt quicker, more planted under foot, sounded better, looked better and that he will now be ordering one. One thing he also said was it rides better on standard suspension than the Golf for which he regrets not getting mag ride or whatever. I know it's just one single Golf R owners perception, yes, but, it's my car & what a compliment to have...... So a quick cuppa and a chat before they had to leave.

That left me with sunshine, country roads and the roaring sound of an RS3....... What a great morning!

That can't be right ... someone suggesting an RS3 is better than a Golf R, nah .... don't believe it :)

You tend to get a feeling for what type of person the original thread starter is here, and he sounds like such a genuinely nice guy. Has the car a few days and his neighbour paints it but yet doesn't get mad. An older guy backs into the Rs3 and he sorts it with the shop owner and let's the older guy get on with his day and stop worrying. He lends the rs3 to someone at work...!

Honestly I enjoyed reading all of your reviews and it has been refreshing to read some REAL stuff, rather than people talking about doing 100mph everywhere.

Thanks for the read, lovely car and I hope the ownership is better from here on inwards!

Also just a side note, it's been mentioned above but the brake pedal is sensitive to pressure and this affects the start stop mechanics on the car. If you just press lightly it will keep the engine on, push down further and it cuts out. Takes a little to get used to, but I have perfected it on the S3.
