Has anyone done a map and firmware update for MMI 3G from Audi-Navi.com?

I want to get mine updated but begrudge paying the amount others have been quoted by main dealers.

i thought it had to be done at a main dealer as the upgrade needs to be registered with Audi for it to work.

Your just paying for pirated maps, google "gps underground" I bet it's were audi-nav get their maps from and don't pay a penny!

Audi maps have well and truly been hacked & cracked, but there are issues with the 3G+ nav activation, so if your car is under warranty I would not touch it.

Interesting!! I'm well out of warranty so will take a look

if your well out of warranty then you most likely have 3G not 3G+

A few weeks ago I retrofitted MMI 3G+ into my 2010 Audi A4 as well as Bang and Olufsen. Would it be possible to do the update myself or would the Audi dealership need to do it. Theres no warranty on the car so yeah.

Audi dealers won't touch your retrofitted 3G+ setup, their updates are all done via SVM and your car no longer matches what is stored on Audi database. so your only option is to upgrade yourself. as before search gps underground for maps..

Thanks B5NUT! By chance I had just found GPS underground myself, are the files linked on the site trustworthy normally?

I am under warranty but think I have a 3G unit (2010 car), so may hold out until it runs out before doing any updates.

I've never had a problem with them, and I would hold off until you are out of warranty..

I'm pretty sure I have MMI 3G -
Has 2 SD slots, one SIM card slot, nav, HDD and B&O system.

I did a write-up here http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/thread...-and-repair-thread.211351/page-2#post-2185104

Make sure you get the correct firmware for your MMI. Also only download the files linked on that site, there are a few Audi nav activation files out there that will turn your 5F module into a brick!

Can you explain this paragraph, it's a bit confusing...

"Warning there are activation programs for Audi maps and some of them will brick your system, one know tool is called "Kufatec tool" (nothing to do with kufatec) and if you check the metainfo2.txt file that is generated you should not see a reference "preUpdateScript" if you do don’t use this activation file!"

Should I use that tool or not...do I need to see "preupdatescript" or not?

There aren't any links posted but I've managed to find all the files required.

The brick part is what your main Audi Multimedia unit will turn into if you use one of the bad activation files

From what I under stand if you see preupdatescript do not use.

Hi guys, i have one question, is it possible to bypass the Nav activation? i mean when i purchased my car A1 (2015) i had nav system but its locked. i know that maps can be downloaded, but is it possible to unlock navigation system without paying 300/400€ at the dealership?

I've used a torrent for the 2016 mmi 3g and I'm happily finding my way around.
