Afternoon all,

My noggy has just failed MOT on emissions again, the cat is ********, it only went on last year.

My mechanic told me last year when he put a fresh one on that it only just scraped though, and he thought that the map that is on it is likely too aggressive with the fuelling.

So, can VCDS restore my car to a factory map?

Friendly mot tester. I work in the industry and there are still places where you can phone through for an mot

Spec of car......
Failed on what exactly. Got results on what it failed on Exactly?

Its VERY unlikely any map has altered fueling around idle and fast idle.... Its just not done. (unless this is a very odd map)

Hardware is a likely cause...

"sports cat"?
What engine code do you have... (is it a wideband or narrowband car)

etc etc

VCDS cant flash maps

Cheers mate,

The story is this, it is a 2001 AMK mapped to around 254bhp (reading from liquid gauge). It HAD a full milltek turbo back on, but last years MOT failed miserably on emissions. We whipped off the sports cat, bodged on a pattern part (couldn't afford a replacement milly) and it JUST passed MOT.

Now this year, MOT time, failed on first and second idle. We're gonna stick another pattern part on to get it through, but after speaking to a mate he thinks maybe the front lambda might be playing up making it overfuel? He has vag-com (and understands it) so we're gonna run some logs on it next week.

Hopefully it just that playing up. Being on the Isle of Wight means getting away for a mapping session could be quite expensive!

In the interim, the new pattern part will go on for MOT, the one coming off will be 'de-catted' (smash the middle out) and will go back on the car LOL
