S3 MMI Navigation Plus & Audi MMI Connect App

I have a new 2014 S3 SB here in Australia (and new to this forum). Standard equipment here is the MMI Navigation Plus with WiFI hotspot but Audi Connect is not available on the S3 in Australia. Just out of interest I checked to see if I could connect my HTC One (M7) to my Audi Wifi. Yes, I could get connected but of course I could do nothing without the Audi MMI Connect App - which as it happens is not available on the Google Play store in Australia. I have asked Audi Germany tech support if they can make the App available in Australia and they are looking into it.
Has anyone used the Audi MMI Connect App that does NOT have Audi Connect (i.e. no SIM card slot in car)? Do you know if I could send an address from Google maps on my phone via the app to the Sat Nav? Any other useful features? If I can only use it for playing music I wouldn't bother pursuing that as we have lots of options for music playing.
If any one else in Australia is interested in the Audi MMI Connect App it would help if they also chased Audi. If indeed the App becomes available on the Google Play store in Australia I will post my findings here.

Hey mate, I'm in Australia as well.

I recently ordered the A3 with Tech pack. This gives me the MMI Navigation Plus as well.

I asked the dealer about Audi Connect, he said it'll be an option for us from 2015 onwards.

Since I haven't got my car yet, you mentioned we're missing the SIM slot? How does the WIFI hotspot work then? (This is the car becoming a wifi hotspot)?

The car wifi hotspot can be turned on by drilling down in the MMI "Media" menu, under "Network Connection (WLAN)". When turned it on, my HTC phone recognised a new wifi was available and I just entered the password shown on the MMI screen and I was connected to the car. But as I said without the Audi MMI Connect App I can do nothing with the link. See MMI screen below Audi MMI wifi

You can install the Audi Music Stream app to stream music via WiFi from your device, if you choose not to use Bluetooth to do it.

I know this is available on iTunes store, not sure about Google Marketplace.

Like this app? I just used an US based iTunes account to download the app. I wonder if it'll work with our Aus variant cars.

Can you get an US iTunes account and try? :)

Can the car use our internet connection from the phone to go online?

I hadn't seen this App in the Irish iPhone Store.... :) Happy Days!

I had the music stream app which keeps playing the music after you disconnect from the car.

For some reason my phone (Galaxy S6) won't connect to my S3 (2015 model without Audi Connect) when I input the password given. I've installed both the Music Streaming app and the Audi Connect app. Audi doesn't really want to help with this saying "we don't have Audi COnnect for the S3 in Australia". Can anyone help please?
Cheers

Hi, I got the same problem. Where you able to find a way to send the addresses to Nav using the app?

Thanks,
Leon

I managed to download the audi apps by using tunnelbear. I can control music but can't do much else. You can't send addresses to the car as it doesn't have a WiFi connection to the Internet to receive them. I presume Autofidelity still haven't got their tetherbox 2 working with the new S3 yet. So annoying.

I don't suppose the WiFi facility is latent on Eu cars and could be activated via VCDS?
