I have been to west London Audi today and the £49 MOT turned into a £515 advisory for both of the front lower rear bushes replaced. WTF I just looked up snazzy aftermarket powerflex bushes at a whopping £49 for the pair. Surely even at main dealer rates it can't be a 3 to 4 hour job?

Thanks

Alex

Should be around the £230 inc bushes. Unsure if they press in new bushes at the dealer or just fit a new alloy casting? Takes around 1.30hr either side as the suspension has to be dismantled as far as being able to remove the wishbone from the bush. We just beat the old bush out with a chisel while still on the car then pull another one in with a long bolt and two round plates. Hope this helps.

Probably an hour each side thinking about it! Depends if the wishbone bolt decides to play nice or not.

Ah bushes one of those nightmare things to buy and very expensive to actually replace. On my last car i bought uprated poly bushes and was told it would be a expensive job to fit. When in essence it didnt take to long removing the control arm.

I suppose its because they have to press them out and stuff, Plus labour time

Another case of the main stealers robbing a customer I would think. They are cheeky bar stewards.

Aberdeen Audi do the same thing. I think they come up with a number then double it then give you that as a cost.

They quote £210 for alignment, so £515 for replacing bushes and the required alignment after is a meer snip...................*** !!

Sorry but I don't find £210 for alignment reasonable either. It could just be that all I have had is bad experiences with Aberdeen Audi so I may be a bit against them.

Hah £210, if anyone pays that they need their head looking at. I know a 4 wheel geo set up professionally is around £140 so alignment only for 210 is crazy!

I paid £160 for my bushes to be done at Midland VW

You guys need to realise the sarcasm in my post................

Why the **** would anyone pay £210 for Aberdeen Audi to adjust the alignment when i can pay trusted professional outfit £69 + adjustments ?.

I have nightmares IF i have to put car in to Audi for warranty work.

Soz dude! I thought you were a Speccy cars die hard..... You get the odd one of them about.

Who do you use?

Ive got nothing but praise for west london Audi. Well apart from when a mechanic stole around £20 in pound coins from the front n rear ashtrays.....greasy fekker! those were for the overpriced Ldn parking meters...only realised when i need them! arghhhh, took me ages to find that space.......

Is that supposed to be a praise-loaded recommendation?!

Really, someone likes / trusts them!!!!........muppets. There's a particular patronising service guy that knows less than the receptionist that has come close to a good slap a few times.

Clark Motorsport in Kintore is highly recommended and getting my business later this week.

I know. Hard to believe eh.

I've heard of that place in kintore. Sounds quite good.

Did they do ur remap?

and you payed it why ??????lmfao

I haven't paid, I am looking around first!

I have phoned around today and used audi specialist - fontain.co.uk say £144 of workshop time plus the parts around £220 but I am waiting a call back. I did both wishbones rather than **** around with bushes on my xsara for £120. I am so angry at my self for wasting my time with West London Audi. I just checked all the history thats with the car and they charged the last owner £300 for a single tire, £45 for two front wiper blades, £200+ for a CV boot..

I am so angry at my self, all the old invoices are right in front of my nose yet I entertained these thieves.

I put my car into Donald Kirk in Perth to get my wheel alignment done a few years ago, they give a before and after printout of the geometry, I knew it was out because the tyres were wearing unevenly (when i bought the car), been a good few miles and tyres wear perfectly still. I did fail an MOT for tie rod ends movement, (but this was harsh as they are rubber filled and we couldnt make them movewhen removed for changing), took it back up to Kirk to say my car had failed less than 1000 miles after tracking adjustment had been done, they did it again for free. It was about £80 to get done, well worth that amount tho, car has been great, never pulls to one side or any other problems.

Just while on the subject of Audi dealer service, I have a boost issue on my 2.5tdi A4 B5, and Perth Audi said they would include diagnostics free when it got a service, so rather than service it somewhere else and then pay £90 for the diagnostics I let them do the service to get the free diagnostics (worked out around the same, or less than getting a specialist to do the service then going to Audi) they said my car was UNSAFE to drive!! Said my fuel pipe was leaking (it has dampness, but no dripping, even after over an hour idling in the same place at work 'cos I forgot I had left it idling one frosty night) and my front flexy brake hoses were split (the rubber had started to crack, but no damage to the braiding). They wouldnt road test my car and therefore do the diagnostics, which was the main reason I had gone to them in the first place.... well p***ed off!!
