I don't think it's got anything to do with being a confident driver or unsure of how your car handles. Audi have it for a reason. I personally don't notice a great deal of difference with it on or off, apart from the light on the dash annoys me. Could be the roads, could be my driving style...

I've had this same problem for a while now, increasing in volume for a while. Now it irritates me everytime the engine is on and never EVER goes away. Someone guessed at a cracked exhaust manifold. They said that this could cause an excess of exhaust fumes to be stored in the carbon filter...

I just leave the ESP on. I'm don't hammer my car so it doesn't make any difference really. Only time it goes off is in the snow. My sunglasses live in the small cubby hole next to the handbrake. :D

Don't bother waving in Aberdeen. They ignore you. Even when you happen to stumble across someone with exactly the same colour as your S3, you get a look like you have a d*ck growing out of your forehead... I'm entitled to say that as I'm Scottish myself! :D
