I got someone to push down on the bonnet. This takes the pressure off the un lubriacted catch. Then I wiggled the release handle until they felt the click and it popped up how it would usually. I had to replace the catch on my mk5. That was only 30 quid or so..

I just googled the locking ring to find the answer and found this thread. Has anyone found out weather this is safe to do? Or is anyone doing this? I think it would only give 5mm extra drop but it would be worth it if it is safe..

I am running my second set of diamond vision bulbs, never had any unwanted attention. They look great but dont seem too much brighter than road legal ones. Its just the colour is better in my eyes, less of the yellowyness :) Didnt realize LED side lights were illegal/MOT failure though..
