A3/S3 delivery lead time?

Spoke with my dealer today, and he has confirmed that there will be spec reductions, without a reduction in price.

My S3 order is now back to week 47, unconfirmed, so that’s a year from order. It is most likely that the sound and comfort pack I ordered will feature reduced functionality. In short, no rear sensors, but I will keep the camera. Front sensors remain. That means no parking plus either, which I won’t use, but am paying for.

He also confirmed that wireless charging is removed, although S3 spec doesn’t have it anyway. Didn’t know about the dynamic rear indicator removal.

Indicated that week commencing 21st March, there will be an instruction from Audi Germany indicating what can and can’t be built, then it’s up to the dealer to call all buyers and tell them. Options appear to be carry on with the order, same price, lower spec, or cancel.

I can’t believe they are not reducing the price, but them since I ordered last November, there have been price rises, and withdrawal of dealer contributions. Plus my P/X will be worth more due to second hand market, so possibly I’ll still be up on the deal.

Cancelling now would mean joining the queue elsewhere, but who else is delivering cars in a timely manner, with a decent spec.

What a quandary

Ridiculous building a car with front sensors and not rear and like you say the parking plus (never use it either) won't work - Wireless charging has been gone for a while now

I wonder how this will impact on vorsprung trim. I always understood that Audi never compromised on the features.

Surely it would make more sense to have rear sensors not front?! I can’t imagine the sensor itself is any different.

You’d think. The reason given for that is the wiring loom?!? Some Audi looms are manufactured in Ukraine. Can’t even retrofit the sensors in the back, as the wiring isn’t there.

Latest update from my dealer is that my order has now arrived at Emden and has passed the quality assurance tests....just waiting to br shipped now...

Ordered my vehicle mid November 21.
Had a provisional build date mid July 22.

Just been told that has been pushed back to mid October 22!?!?

Hardly surprised given the amount of delays people have had on the forum but I did have a small amount of hope!

I've been waiting for my order for 11.5 months..by the time it's shipped over it will be bang on a year... so although your wait will be ridiculously long... if your forecasted build date holds your wait will be similar to mine

Hi all.
Does anyone know at what point a UK dealer could in fact obtain the VIN in order to confirm the manufactured spec? My dealer seems to think they can only confirm it once it arrives with them using a mark 1 eyeball.
Should they be able to access that information from the factory?
I have a nasty feeling that if/when my car actually gets built it will be missing half of what makes it worthwhile! Add to that the prospect of zero reduction in price, and public transport is looking like a feasible option (that is until someone designs an affordable electric car that doesn’t look like a child drew it at nursery)!

I managed to get mine as soon as it was built and waiting for the boat at the German port.
Entered it onto my Audi app which listed full spec of vehicle. The only thing missing was audi beM puddle lights, which were standard a year ago when ordered.

Again as Rads said, mine was available the minute it was built. My dealer sent a screenshot of the order from his system.

Contacted my company's fleet supplier today, to see if they have an estimate delivery on the A3 45 tfsi e c+s ordered last September. They estimate... this November at the earliest!

Thanks for your help. The My Audi App says I need both the VIN and the Vehicle Code in order to add the vehicle.
Will the dealer have access to both once it’s built?
I assume they will but want to check.
I imagine though that a dealer should be able to access or request the “as built” info straight from Audi!
I don’t want them trying to fob me off with lies or excuses.

Managed to get my VIN number from the dealer... I entered it in the MyAudi app and all appears OK.. all my extras are included... and looking through the standard equipment 'dynamic indicators'& 'parking sensors' are quoted

It still let me have access to the specification details without entering the vehicle code

The vin is available once built . My dealer however insisted he can't get it until it arrives . I don't understand why he won't tell me

You only need the vin. You need the vehicle code to complete the linking of your car to the app but you can only complete that once you actually have the car.
I’ve added vin, and I can see the spec of car (broken down into standard items and optional items). It tells me I need to complete the set up of adding car but can’t do that until I have the car.
My vin was on my order form, though my car was a cancelled order sat at Emden waiting to come to uk.

My dealer is basically saying the same thing.
I don’t think I have ever been this uninformed, stressed and disappointed over getting a new car - mind you I’ve never lived through a pandemic before so…
Anyway - the dealer really should be making life easier not harder for clients. I am going to go back (once the bl**dy build date is confirmed) and tell them what they are actually capable of doing!

Hi I am new to the forum and read a few posts here about lead times. This is my first new car order. I placed an order for an Audi A3 35 TFSI S-Line in Navarra Blue on 1st December. Expecting May delivery but believe this will be pushed back as I haven't been given a build week yet by the leasing company. How long would the car take to arrive once given a build week?

I was told the chip situation is slowly improving last month but I've not had any updates since December. Would you all say the situation has improved for you guys?

I think the chip storages was improving but the war in Ukraine has caused bug issues with the supply chain. My order which has been built is due to be delivered in early April. That that would be a 11month wait for me....

Do you know what parts audi are sourcing from Ukraine? Good to hear your cars been built, hopefully you don't get any further delays with delivery

I'm not an expert in this aware but I'm sure that materials/equipment relating to the parking sensors are sourced from Ukraine. There are rumours that Audi are starting to build cars without parking sensors

I may be getting the wrong end of the stick but in the My Audi app under standard equipment it is only saying 'dynamic rear indicators' for the S Line shouldn't the dynamic indicators be front and rear????

@MA3RC can you confirm?

If it helps. When I look at the ‘configure your Audi’ that I did to my spec when I ordered last September, it only made reference to dynamic rear indicators on my S-Line, no mention of the front. My wife’s A3 SLine she had last may only had them on the rear too.

Dynamic front indicators were part of the matrix headlight pack . Which is no longer an option

today I received a message from my dealer that my car has been put into production, but is not yet ready. The reason why this has not been completed is unknown to my dealer.
My confirmed construction week was week 11. They hope that the car will be completed in the coming weeks. Could this be related to the parking sensors?

I ordered in September 2021 and had a build week of 17 which as now been pushed back to week 37. therefore for me it will be around 14 months from ordering to receiving the car.
I heard that there are delays due to cable harness supply which are made in Ukraine and that Audi are trying to source alternative suppliers

Hi my daughter has an Audi A3 sline on order. The vehicle went into production 1st week in December and was held back due to waiting on semiconductors. The car has now arrived in the UK although it is still not at the dealer.
Iam aware parking sensors etc are now an issue.

After 13 long months, dealer has confirmed that I will take delivery of my car on Tuesday. Here's hoping the wait have been worth it.
