Hi all,

Got no history of when the brakes were last changed. Been having shudder/judder when braking especially at speed or when going downhill.

I'm sure it's coming from the front so going to replace discs+pads. Shame as the front discs look okay but must be warped.

I'm all for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" however I wondered whether the rears were worth doing at the same time? I can see they are scored but recently had an MOT and nothing was mentioned.

Personally, I think the discs look quite old and the lip looks quite deep suggesting they are worn and towards the end of their life. If you're going down the DIY route, replacing a typical pair of non-specialist rear discs (and pads) is not an expensive job - given that Euro Car parts often slash their prices at weekends - on the click and collect system.

In the end I took the front rotors off, and measured them, I believe the min thickness is 23mm and mine were averaging 22mm so well in need of replacing. Ordered set of pads and discs off ECP.

Haven't got to the rears yet but if the new fronts fix my braking judder then I'll invest in those as they'll like be in a similar state.

If 288mm fronts ideal time to upgrade to the 312mm , just 312mm caliper carriers required .

I had this exact same issue on my A7, i replaced front and rear discs and pads and went for braided lines and fresh fluid too. I had no idea when it had last been changed so felt it would be safer, plus trying to stop a two tonne barge from speed needs decent brakes!
