Pedal boxes plug into the accelerator pedal and any gubbins are hid behind carpet or lower dash trim .

Looks OEM judging by the way it's mounted . certainly not a pedal box or any tuning box I've ever seen

Looks like it's designed to clip on the side, so I would go for OEM too

release the black tab, slide the box out and google / eBay the part number. It's 100% OEM due to the mounting but not sure what this is.

just had a look down the side of my one and even though I don't have anything like that there are 2 slots on the side of the battery case for something to clip into like yours. so unless a tuning company designed a box specifically to fit an audi battery case which I very much doubt then it is something that is meant to be there. my particular car is not that highly spec'd so there could be any amount of control units to be fitted that mine doesn't have

Just zoomed in to the clip fixing, as others have said that's OEM for sure & I think it's maybe what is known as a breather line of the gearbox.

Battery holder bases all seem to have that clip fixing too.

I'm astonished that the OP hasn't undone those two little clips and looked inside.

My curiosity would have got the better of me ages ago. I'd have been in there half a second after finding it.

And once I'd found out what it does, I'd have kept it a secret
