SQ5 SQ5 TDI reliability

Hi, my wife had a S3 a while back and loved it but we have had two BMW's since.
We currently have a X5 but we may downsize to an SQ5, we may be looking at a 2015 pre adblue model with 70k/full Audi history.

I was wondering what the reliability was like on the biturbo's and do they also suffer with timing chain issues like some of the 3.0tdi's did.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I cant help you with any reliability questions apart from ours hasn't missed a beat in the 10 months we've had it.
What I can say it's a fantastic car that ticks a lot of boxes and is laughable quick for such a large car.
Just make sure it's been looked after and had all the relevant servicing done.

Thanks for your reply, it does have Audi history.
My brother inlaw had a 65 plate but he did have adblue issues with his, this 15 plate is a pre adblue model.

Mines adblue and no issues or top ups in 6.5k miles ....wish I could say the same for the transit I use at work, we're forever topping it up!

Luckily my brother in law had his adblue pump done under warranty as they cost about 1K.
I am a maintenance engineer at Southampton docks and all our later straddle carriers have adblue, nothing but trouble, it may be good for the environment but it does give us more breakdowns.

7-months now with a 2016 'adblue' SQ5 and not a single issue.

A non Audi dealer purchase at 19k miles so straight to Stafford Audi for service and no worries since: a stunning machine; does everything so well...

And my wife loves the SQ5 and so will yours

Any help we can give just ask - but do consider the 'adblue' SQ5 with an effortless 326 PS @ 4000-4500 rpm and 650 Nm @ 1400-2800 rpm

Thanks for the reply, I work on diesels everyday and due to my experience with Bosch adblue systems I am definitely going to buy a pre adblue model.

I know a great Audi tuner and the SQ5 will probably get remapped anyway, both pre and post adblue models make the same 380-390hp and 760nm when mapped.

My wife was very sad when we sold our S3 so I am sure she will like a SQ5, just need to choose between grey or blue but both with a black pack.

And yes I'm tempted with "380-390hp and 760nm when mapped" but to be honest it has more than sufficient pace on today's congested and poorly surfaced 'A' and 'B' roads as is - and the larger front discs with Ferodo EcoFriction brake pads (all round) are very good; just sayin...

My wife's sister had blue but didn't have the black pack.
So far there are 2 blue and 1 grey locally we like.
The only thing we would add is a tow bar, one of the blue ones has a tow bar already but the other two are better spected cars.

The towbar is an easy upgrade post purchase so I would concentrate on getting the important options.
Prices second hand dont differ that much for a well spec'd car, they just sell quicker so you have to be prepared to move when they come up. That means researching the market so your ready and be prepared to travel.
Colour is a personal choice but I think black pack is a must whichever you choose as I dont like the 80's chrome trim!

I agree the towbar is somthing I can fit and I also have VCDS (Vagcom) to do the coding, I think it's Westfalia that make the Audi towbars but from the likes of PF Jones they are around half the price, aprox £360 with 7 pin plug and play kit.
