Did you need to apply coding to get them to function correctly? I hear the US version requires quite a bit of coding.

No coding. It's a straight swap. Everything works out of the box. The change is purely cosmetic.

How awkward is it to change them over? I like the look but I know they aren’t cheap

Extremely easy. For the outers, you just unclip the black plastic piece revealed when you lift the bootlid. This reveals two torx screws. Undo them and pop the light put before unplugging the connector and the same in reverse with the replacement. For the inners there's two flaps inside hte bootlid directly behind each one. Pop them open and there's three nuts that need undone to release the light cluster. Whole thing takes 25 minutes tops.

That doesn’t sound too bad at all, I think even I could manage changing those over. They do look good on yours mine is Navarra Blue I will have to track down some photos and have a look.

Nice! And a darn sight cheaper doing it yourself too I bet rather than adding them on when ordering!

Just to show what they look like on Floret Silver.....

Looks awesome mate. How much were they if you don't mind me asking

Quick Google shows anything between 250GBP (eBay), 900EUR (OEM Germany) and 1500AUD ;)

Yeah I saw them on eBay for £250 and was thinking it can’t be that cheap

I paid £290 on eBay from an Audi Dealer but my mate has just bought them for £250. RRP is £550 but if you spec them at time of build Audi charges £700.

Got a set from eBay. Sold my old S3 today and thought got to do a few things to the S5 and here’s a good place to start!
I’ll put up some pictures when I fit them.

So bought the rear lights a while ago and fitted them yesterday, not too bad a job, there is one cover you need to take off to access the screw locations on the body side of the light and one on the boot side of the light. After that its a long reach socket and a T20?? torx screwdriver or key.

Here's the photos

Looks good, the ebay adverts for these state you need to buy a cable as well thats £90, was that your experience?

Matrix LED refer to the front headlights, what has that got to do with the rears?

When you have the Matrix LED on the front, you also get improved rear lights in many markets...

How so ? The rear light are standard on the A5/S5?RS5

If you add matrix option you get the animated turn signals on the front which you don't get with the standard front LED headlights but the rear have those anyway, what differences are there in the rear lights in different markets?

Animated rear lights are not standard......base models do not have these and this is why an additional cable is required to fit the smoked rears to non-animated lights afaik.

Just checked Audi UK website.....dynamic rear indicators are S Line and above.

I'm torn on these, they do look nice.

Didn't even realise. They are an actual option when buying an S5. Just stupidly hidden at the end of the configurator amongst floor mats and whatnot . Would expect them to show up under exterior or something

I theory then I should find the old ones in the boot, right ;-)

Especially since the cost seems similar to catalogue .

I am torn on these - somehow they seem to suit the RS5 better but still look good on the S5. Cant decide!

Hi,

Can anyone confirm if this will fit my new black Audi A5 being delivered over the next two weeks? It is S Line with sweeping rears.

Thanks, they look excellent, plus a de chrome and I’ll have quite a stealthy looking new A5.

Yes they will currently some for 350 on ebay

Excellent, many thanks - these are essentially just an outer shell to achieve the smoked look? Nothing else internally is changed, essentially just the clear casing?

Just wondered if you had a link, the listing for 350 appear to not be for the 2018 A5?

For the life of me I can’t seem to get these plastic trim bits removed to get the outer lights removed, I’m worried about snapping any clips or damaging the paint with any trim tools. Any ideas or instructions guys :whistle2:

you need a flat head screwdriver you will see a slot on the black plastic trim on the side, you insert it in there and twist it should lift up once that trim comes off its 2 torx screws IIRC
