Navigation update

Folks looking to update the navigation on my mmi. Has anyone ever used these for maps or can recommended something else?

I'd put money on the line that they're obtaining the software freely from the web. How much do they charge out of interest?

For my most recent update, I bought the official FW SD Card from Audi but found the maps elsewhere. The former was around £25 and the latter gratis.

There's a couple of dealers on eBay that will sell you the offical updates for both FW and maps at very reasonable prices. You then just need a modicum of common sense to get both on your MMI.

Think they charging something like 30 quid.

I wouldn't be well clued up on these so ideally something plug and play or something with very clear instructions would be perfect

Just checked and it's £40 for the maps and FW which, is pretty reasonable. The eBay dealers will want £80 to £120 IIRC.

If you go for it, just make sure you have a full instructions from them as it can be slightly tricky.

I thought it was pretty reasonable. It's not on top of my list of things to do at the moment but would like to update it at some stage.

I'm looking at updating the maps on mine, it's 2G I think. Do I need to update the firmware first or can I just do the maps? It's all a little confusing!!

Whether you need to update the firmware will depend on the map version you install. For the latest maps (2018), I required the latest FW on my 3G+ MMI.

Semantics!

If we're being pedantic - the '2018-2019', 6.27.2 release is an addendum map pack, with 6.26.1 being the '2018' pack. The '2019' pack, 6.2*.* will likely released in December.

Unless you're prepared to pay Audi prices, you'll be in for a bit of a wait for the 6.27.2 pack.

There are quite some major changes in the 2018-2019 release. Don't know for the UK but in Netherlands, Belgium and Germany there are big changes.
