Just looked down the front of the engine and seen a precariously laying piece of curved shiny metal hanging above one of the large pulleys. It looks almost like one of the groves from said pully has come away. I mean it hasn’t but that’s what it looks like

How can I stick a picture up here for you to look at?

This is it in situ and I got my hand in there and pulled the dam thing out! Cleaned it up and that’s it in my fingers. What the hell is that!!

Definitely not part of a pulley in the way you were thinking. Looks more like trim. Are there any markings?

none whatsoever. It looks like it originally had rubber all the way round it, but its been torn off (hardly surprising really where it was) I count myself lucky I noticed it, this could have cut through one of those belts or worse really.

I had a similar piece fall off my air con pulley clutch on my b6, does your air on still work?

The air con compressor on the B8 should be a variable displacement type so no electro mechanical clutch on the drive pulley like a B6, if that helps at all.

Edit:- I should have written electro magnetic clutch.

Everything still works as it should. I recon it’s pinged off another car in a workshop somewhere and just ended up in my engine bay! ‍♂️
