Currently driving a nearly 2 year old S-Line A3 which I love but a recent holiday suggested we need something a bit larger to accomodate the family and luggage, and I've seen an S-Line A4 18 plate at a price I like locally.

However, my current A3 has loads of extras (as an ex-demo) including the tech pack. I won't miss the Virtual Cockpit, but I've got a couple of questions that I hope someone can clarify.

- Is there a way to get live traffic on the A4 if I don't have VC? Will I have to buy a data sim to achieve this and subscribe to Audi Connect? If so how much is Audi Connect a month?

- Does the standard A4 S-Line have a jukebox hard disk? If not, does it take an SD Card to achieve the same thing?

- Has the non-tech pack armrest still got USB ports in it for CarPlay from an iPhone?

Thanks.

Online traffic is free for 3 months on non tech pack cars. You can do what i and many others did and go on the online chat on audi.co.uk and ask for a extension

They gave me anothet 12 months free of charge and online traffic

Thanks - did you have to buy a SIM Card for that or does it just use the built in one?

Google maps/ Traffic updates come with Audi connect which Audi will give you free for 12 months or more of you ask nicely. (No additional sim card required)

I dont have the S Line but mine has 2 USB ports inside the armrest so im pretty certain the S line will have them too.

With the hard disk/sim card im not sure. But if i was to guess id say no and that comes as an optional extra probably with the B&O upgrade.

All in all though I think you'd benefit from the extra space and added refinement the A4 provides

Thanks, that's helpful. It's the extra space we need. Manchester > Southampton and back with luggage, 3 adults and a baby was do-able, but only just. I've got to do it again in September, and would certainly like more space, just don't want to lose a couple of nice-to-haves but it sounds like all I'll lose is the jukebox, and I can replicate that with a £50 SD Card.

18 plates my have a usb port next to the 12v supply on the centre console. The jukebox depends upon having the technology pack...

My non-tech pack S-Line has a slot for an SD-Card onto which I put my music, not a juke box hard drive. It works great. It also has an arm-rest USB slot for charging a phone and teeing up Apple Car Play or Android Auto. My online traffic has expired but I haven't bothered to renew it as I use the (in my view) superior navigation on my phone via Android Auto which also has online traffic.
