Hi chaps.

Thinking about exporting my car as I need one where my new job is and since my A3 is still running well and the costs to export are minimal then I figure this is the best option. Only prob is that finding someone to undertake any mods, coding or tweaks is quite difficult to find here. I have the halogen lights so im after a solution. Firstly, are they able to be switched over to LHD via a lever or VCDS coding? I read somewhere that there was a EU mode on these lights but not sure how to access it. If this isnt available then if I bought like for like lights, would I need to code them or would they be plug and play?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about halogens but I was looking for an answer about that for myself.
I have xenons and they would require vcds or carista coding.
Halogens in A6 would’ve been easier to do. Been told there is a leaver to simply flick over and job done.

I got myself carista dongle and all it does is dropping the aim lower, nothing more.

Best for you would be to investigate on lights yourself. If leaver is there, it should switch the aim cut off line to the other side.

If you het the replacement lamps, it should be nothing more than plug & play but might be wrong on your platform.

To be 100% sure, ask @DJAlix or @NHN, site sponsors and vcds magicians.

Thanks for the info mate. Got the Carista dongle last year but it does nothing like this unfortunately. I checked the manual and you can see this part mentioning LED & Zenons. Halogens seem to be ok abroad as the beam is flat but I still want to know if it will pass an inspection (MOTs style) in the EU.

Is your light pattern really flat out of halogen lamps?
Heard of the vehicles with lamps like that but on xenon bulbs and lenses.
Could be wrong here.

If yours is flat, it should be really ok.

Have you tried dealership?

I called the main dealer to ask for adjustment on mines and been told £60+vat for setting it to EU roads. When asked about “what that fee does involve of doing”, guy stumbled and didn’t knew, as “it is down to service, not him”. Lol
That is why I got myself carista.

Also, apparently some newer cars adjust headlamps automatically, upon GPS positioning being recognised by the car.
Some technology, eh?

The beam profile on modern projector lamps is pretty flat, but it does still go up on the left. This is acceptable for temporary use on LHD countries without the need for any beam conversion.

However, it is not acceptable for the vehicle to be registered in an LHD country. The beam profile will need to be modified, which will require modifications to the lamp housing, or a lamp housing designed for an LHD country.
