Hi all.

been away from the fold for a while (this is my 2nd return, no actually the 3rd)....

after a couple of A4 quattro's and ever sold my S3 a year ago and regretted it ever so much.

So i'm having a 2nd, no 3rd mid-life crisis, and a lickle yellow beast is being picked up tomorrow just in time for the snow:)

basic s1 spec, apart from the heated seats and sat nav and si I have a few oem (cosmetic) mods planned,

will be my daily

to my summer plaything

Any hints tips and comments appreciated, i'm thinking of grey roof and rear plate decals and 18" diamond cuts, cruise and maybe brightening the interior a smidge...

Hi mate,

Pretty S1 you're getting there, congrats! Was going to say straight off upgrade the alloys, but for that colour a personal preference would be gloss black alloys to make the car look a bit more evil.
I find the forge dump valve a sweet touch, large woosh of air after you've planted your foot but not a peep if driving normally.
Quattro spoilers can be picked up online for about 250 quid. Think they look awesome.

Finally if you're looking to spend a bit more, splash out 300 quid and get a blacked out rs grill, these transform the car.

Any other questions let me know,

Luke

I looked at both the Forge and Go Fast Bits (GFB) valves and settled on the latter, as you can adjust the boost as well as the 'whoosh' sound. The latter from 100% chav, which mine is on currently :D to completely quiet.

I'd previously read that Forge valves might negatively effect the performance (http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/forge-dump-valve.251609/ :( I also saw similar on the Facebook S1 page) whereas the GFB DVX is trouble free if you follow the set up instructions.

I'm looking to change my alloys in the next few weeks (car has the std 18" diamond cut black alloys from the S1 competition pack) if you're interested. They're immaculate / brand new.

I’m good thanks, keeping busy as usual. Not enough hours in my day :) x

here's the pick-up...15 months old and 6k miles but the prep was excellent - you really can't tell its not new. Lincoln Audi BTW.

Am well chuffed

Thanks - now clocked up 250 smiles and have to say its one of the best cars i've had for all-round ability.

Astonishing refinement for one so diddy but all the go when you want it too.

I had a boxster S and an 8P s3 before and the S1 is like the best parts of both (that's meant as high praise)

A decent shout for Lincoln Audi too - Ben and Gary were great and made the deal. literally.

Prep'd like a new car and the handover in the booth was the antithesis of buying a '2nd hand' car. Great fun and photo op:)

Almost as pleasurable as finding out, afterpurchase, that the car had the 'service plan' bought by the PO!

Very nice, looks emaculate. What's your plans for the car is it your daily ?? Weekend car ?? Tune up car ??

Do you prefer the s1 over the s3 ??

ryan its my daily - my plaything is the red porsche in the first post.

its going to deep shine detailnig next week for anthracite roof edging and bootlid and then 18's in anthracite or black polished rims (17s will stay for winters)

Sorry I just wizzed through the above posts, I'm also thinking 18' rims but but at the minute my standard rims are emaculate and set the car imo.

Howcome your only getting certain bits detailed and not the whole car ??

oops - that should have said going for "decals" - as in the bumble bee look but in anthracite grwey instead of black.

thanks - the porsche is a 968, the last of the front engined 4 cyl cars (924 was the first). 240horse so it still shifts and was held as the best handling car for much of the 90's in Autocar tests. Owned since 2004!

Have got a pair of folding mirrors and an autodimming interior one...and so the modding starts...

Had the S1 roof edges and hatch wrapped in 3m matt anthracacite.

A fantastic job done by Adi and his guys as Deep Shine in Lincoln.

Am chasing down some anthracite and polished rims in 18 now.

Looking well after the detail. Can't help but think it would suit the roof being covered as well. Sounds like a host of OEM mods are on the way as well then!

cheers spike - i nearly went for the grey bumblebee look but worried the spoiler wouldn't work out (whether wrapped or not).

So i'm happy enough and think with the right set of rims it'll be fine:)

IMMACULATE

Folding mirrors fitted and my new old stock titanium competition alloys have arrived.

These are the same as the Ltd Edition Competition A1 wheels but in polished / grey rather than black, fitted with rainsport 3's 225 35 18s.

These wheels suit your VY S1 perfectly. The one thing that annoys me about the S1 is the wheel arch gap....to big!

The arch gap is one thing that irks me about the S1 although not enough to buy any 18's to swap out my 17's though :whistle2:
