Guys we all know the RS3 (PFL and FL) in standard form could do with a little more of an aggressive stance.
But I'm not sure whether to lower mine or widen it with wheel spacers or do both.
Issues that could arise;
1. Impact to handling as both changes will affect the Audi original set up, this may actually improve handling depending in the size of the changes.
2. Impact on warranty, this will affect suspension components only.
3. Impact on insurance, from what I've heard this will be negligible.
4. Impact on day to day use i.e rubbing on the wheel arches.
5. Impact on costs, it's cheaper to widen than it is to lower.

I'm not sure what to do.....
Any suggestions?

Do both , fine tuning the offsets with spacers to how you want the wheel to sit in the arch .

Some VAG like 5mm extra at the back .

I was thinking of 12mm front 15mm rear for the spacers.
And lowering wise around 20mm.
Issue with lowering is either MSS or Eibach. I can get Eibach sportline kit for around 250 but the MSS is more like 500 both not fitted. And Eibach make the MSS springs.

I thought MSS was twice that cost?

Same predicament as me. Talking 400 fitted and for the wheel alignment plus the base spec springs from MSS so your 900 squid! Think il opt for Eibach also, perhaps 10mm but may not be noticeable enough.

Right then.
The Eibach sportline RS3 springs developed for 2015 RS3 will fit the FL, and are available only as fixed at 25mm front and 15mm rear. Cost is 198+ vat.
The MSS kit is only available as adjustable for the RS3 and varies up to 30mm front and rear and cost 599 incl vat I believe (having a bit of trouble with their website, the navigation on it is a bit shxt).
Their both made by the same firm.
So if you're happy with 15mm rear and 25mm front then save yourself 350ish and go for the Eibachs.

Springs are cheaper on Deamontweaks website at 205.00 I’m sure they were

The MSS sport kit for the RS3 is £799 plus vat...... although they are expensive .... they are truly awesome to drive.... plusbyou have the adjustability if you so wish

Don’t be fooled that the springs are the same as the Eibach ones because they are not...... Eibach are commissioned to make them for MSS..... to MSS’s own design and settings etc

if anyone wants some Mss you can give me a shout via pm.... can arrange fitting too

Ah I see it's the Sport kit from MSS.
Yeah i guessed there must be some difference between them.
Just been emailing MSS and the owner there William B seems very helpful, well I guess he would wouldn't he.

We are based in London .... could work out a good price too

Ok Ed_rx7 thanks.
Gotta buy some Xmas pressies first.
Will give this serious consideration in the new year.

Yes... please pm me don’t wanna step on anyone’s toes or break rules etc

At what height would you get tyres rubbing on the arches? Looking at some the images and vids some seem very close to the arches? Plus with spacers as well it must be even worse.
25mm lowered front seems a lot to me....

Do Audi offer, or rather alloy you to keep your warranty with any lowering kits... asking as a few other manufacturer I’ve been with in the past do

On stock height when I went from 19’s to 20’s I got rubbing on the front on full lock only and only on reverse for some strange reason.... it’s only slight.... but it’s there.... couple of mm off the tyres and should be gone

Don’t wanna start cutting stuff

And some rubb on the rear splash guard things....under load... I have yet to remove mine.

Anyway after putting the MSS springs on it’s exactly the same.... which leads me to believe that the offset of the wheels or tyre profile is the culprit. I ignored advice and put 245 tyres on against the recommended 235 profile

Any pictures with the 245 tyres on? As I’m thinking of putting Michelin cup2’s as I had these on my GTR and loved them.

I have 12mm front 15mm rear spacers and the car does scrape when you run over a speedbump slightly faster than normal, it would be a pain in the *** if i lowerd it and had passengers in the car. OEM wheels with 235 tires.

Would 10mm all round be a better bet in that case? I'm also on 235 tyres all round.

I could probably go for 15mm and 20mm but i would never lower my car, it looks good but i dont want it to scrape, ever.

Do you have any photos of your car? I get the impression in my mind that if using spacers you'd really need to lower the car a bit to complete the look.

Not the best photos but you definitely don't have to lower it when you have spacers imo.

Just checked and my insurance policy with 1st Central won't allow me to even fit wheel spacers.

So that's this reason why my insurance at 560 thru 1st Central is so cheap, no mods allowed.
Just got some new quotes via modding friendly insurance firms as follows;
Sky insurance at 710 but I need to have a tracker fitted.
Adrian Flux at 1100 no tracker required.
All to lower or widen the dam car!
I hope all you out there with modded cars have informed your insurance companies.

Hi,
If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to take another look at our quotation to see if there is anything better we can do.
Regards,
Dan.

Hi Dan,

I sent you a message on this forum, not sure if that is a 'PM'.

Or do you want me to actually email you ? i.e Dan@adrian flux.....is that all one word adrainflux ??

Standard height as per MSS setup guide. T Wrigley had his setup that way too. From memory 35 lower at back 30 at front.

I'm toying with the idea of springs, I hadn't always planned on going down the MSS route but now I'm more tempted by the H&R option?
Any experience with these?

One thing I don't want is any scraping on speed bumps, who has experienced this? @terminator x ? Because yours is dropped quite a lot.....

The undertray does catch very high speed bumps but only just and you will need to drive over them slowly (as intended!) rather than blast over them as some seem to do. Mine is only lowered by the standard height BTW and the MSS kit is adjustable so can or could be altered.
