So finally, here are some photos of my car under popular request. The car hasn't been prepped, the process you see unfold in the photos is the reveal today, move onto a transporter and transportation to Reep Midlands for PPF. The car is at Reep Midlands for a whole week, 7 sleeps :-( I will be going up for the long drive back to South Wales :-D The car will spend one evening in my garage, after that it will be off to the local detailer for ceramic coating for 4 days. One day, it will be mine to freely use.. haha. It's the strangest thing, picking up a car but not having it.. it doesn't help my disbelief that I own it. Apologies for the terrible blurring of the plate but it has been done quickly on my iPad, to satisfy you eager Mica Pup fans.

The colour is unbelievable, we had a right old adventure following it. They didn't expect us to follow, not knowing me! So we had to go and collect a Skoda from a dealer, transport the Skoda to Coventry and finally onwards to Leicester! We even had to have the drivers break, to suit his driving times... so funny, to his disbelief I was doing it. Every time I looked up, I couldn't help but smile and the way it looked from one angle to the next, it's never the same. The covers still haven't been off of the Lunar seats in the front, that will happen when my local detailer gets it.

So far I've done 0.3 miles in it, I've had the pleasure of moving it 3 times from parking spot to parking spot.. :( It will be worth the wait! The car sounds incredible, so happy.

This last picture is very blurry because of a heavy zoom, but the car looked so aggressive as I got in the car to drive away.. can't wait to see it again, that colour!!!

Gotta admit, it does work well with the mica blue, black styling would have blended in too much?

There are photos of one with the BSP, it left me doubting my choice but now I’m over the moon.

So I am 99% now to changing my order colour from Nardo to Ara blue - I love Blue - I think Ara is too light but its a compromise.

Any thoughts? also this brings the aluminum v black pack discussion back up.

Ara is a very light, bright blue! It’s lovely looking out at it on the bodywork.

I’m a fan of Aluminium by history, but I’d struggle to make that call.

MJM Detailing in Falkirk? Michael sent me these before I sent him my S3 Saloon which is in there at present. Collect it from him tomorrow. :)
Yes mate, the very man.....you won't be disappointed, I can assure you

Standard - I don't feel the need for the wider fronts.

In those examples the black pack looks better - but in my photo from the video alu looks stunning - and on @AudiNutta car it does too.

Id love a darker blue but not at that price!

If standard I think alu....ties it all in nicely with a consistent theme. Think it would look a bit odd with black pack with standard wheels, can always wrap the alu bits black if you wish down line.

I just like black pack as it’s aggressive and that’s th look I’m going for. Think you just need to make a decision and stick with it, nothing worse than forever changing your mind and worried for collection day when your spec is locked in lol, been there and bought the T shirt...never again, first decisions always the right one I think

He good? Collecting mine from Stirling and looked in to TLC Detailing but there customer service was shocking, and unsure of anyone in Edinburgh. Parents from Falkirk so be easy for me. Long way of right enough, March

Reep Scotland?

Near Glasgow?

Have heard of them, just with me living in Edinburgh it’s a bit far to travel. Heard of people having detailers visit the garage and detailing on site a day or two before collection...maybe something to look in to.

Most that's are worth their bacon won't do it, things like ceramic coatings need time to cure.

Reep is closest to be too but they only offer Gtechnic and Michael from MJM offers Gyeon. He'll be the first to tell you that he isn't all about clinical white tiles that are reflecting to the nines and that his work area is quite messy but he is good at what he does and I've been very impressed with him thus far, he is fair fair with his prices too. He recoated my wheels for me after I made an **** of it, protected by hubs and coated all my side windows and rear only for £80.

I will be taking some photos on collection tomorrow but you'll probably have to head over to the S3 forum to see them as I'm sure us peasant S3 owners are not welcome here :whistle2::yahoo:

If this helps....mine i picked up on 21 Oct...looks even better close up, pic doesnt do it justice. I dont think its too light, unless you like bland boring colours like black, white or primer (I mean Nardo). I did think about cat red but i have had a red car so needed a change and I prefer blue cars anyway. Cat Red is VERY bright...and orange

That looks so good to me.

That's the same video and exact shot that helped me decide Ara blue with the aluminium styling was the way to go, just makes the car more distinct compared to black which looks somewhat ordinary to my eyes. However, do like the black window trims and am waiting for a quote from my dealer to see how much it would be to change over (not a fan of wraps, even for a small area as the trim).

@AudiNutta, I remember seeing the comment you posted in the below video showcasing a PFL RS3 in Ara blue which at the time was an exclusive colour and how you emphasised this would be your preferred choice of colour (more so than Sepang, that being the closest colour to Racing Mica) with "I WILL have my RS3 in this colour when I order one in a year’s time". What made you change your mind about Ara? Just curious.

My detailer uses Gyeon and despite the aftercare products being quite expensive, I find it great.

Wow you have good memory!

Correct, I was totally blown away by Ara seeing that photo and did want it on one of my cars. But, I saw a photo first of all with an PFL RS3 in Scotland in Ara Blue and it looked very light, casting doubt.

My friend in work bought an S3 Saloon in Ara Blue. The colour made me smile when I saw it, the first 2 weeks.. then the more I saw it at 7am in low light, I started to go off of it and around a month after he got it I decided quit confidently it was a route I didn’t want to take. The colour is nice and it really pops in the sun, like nothing I’ve seen before. I’ve always preferred a darker colour, my last car was Nano Grey.
I’ve been seeing a Racing Blue RS3 on and off for the last year, I’ve had photos of one on my phone of the very one I saw in person and each time I’ve looked it’s made me fall for it a little more. The first time I saw it drive past me in the Audi car park my reaction was “What the hell is that?!”, it stood out immediately to me as something different being familiar with the colour range. Having seen mine now for two days, a good few hours on each day I’ve been totally wowed by the way the paint changes in different lights and the small amount of doubt I had, is long gone.

Ultimately it’s down to personal preference, but Ara was a colour I got bored of over time seeing day in day out. BUT, I will say when I had an Ara Blue RS3 demo, I came home with it and said to my parents “had I seen this car 4 months ago, I’d have considered a little more ordering it”. The car was very basic but looking out over the bonnet on the crisp blue paintwork was very nice, undoubtably a great colour.
But again, having reviewed photos of that car again after seeing mine.. I’m glad I didn’t go down the Ara route.

There is a very overcomplex story for you, one of a never ending amount of complex stories in the long 2.5 year wait to getting into an RS3.

Looking at that video now funnily enough, it shows the elements of Ara I don’t like and that is how light it gets. Had Sepang been an option on the FL, I think I would have ordered that with my local dealer and saved a lot of hassle.

If you are going ara blue IMO you can save some cash and not have the black pack or alu pack.

With ara being a lighter blue (than say mica) I think just the front grill surround is enough.

Adding in the splitter in alu is not required IMO with ara.

Just a thought.

Well, at least we share the exact seats, alu trim and wheels. :)

I'll concede the Mica Blue trumps my Mythos.

Remember the 3 main rules:

  • Don't park at supermarkets
  • Park 1 yard away from curves
  • Stay inside the car at all times - quite difficult that one

That's one of the hardest things when you get a new car, park it. Now that my car is 5 years old, I can park it anywhere without suffering for it but man, that will change when my RS3 arrives...

Be careful or you will be like those people that leave the plastic on their new sofa. For information Ive been known to circle car parks several times before selecting a space or just giving up going home and swapping cars.

Interesting idea - that would cancel out the price change from Nardo to Ara - and I could even add in the Alu race inlay which gets me the door inlay lights for around £100 more than it stands at now.

I agree the aluminium at the back isn’t needed but I do like it on the front...

I’m still not sure how I feel about the RS3 saloon alloys either.

They just don’t look Audi & feel more Kia ?

I think there not the most photogenic alloys to honest mate but mighty expensive put the R on any Audi car..... Add at least 30% on top of a S model for the same quality

I REALLY like the alloys on your car - they would be my #1 choice.
A really nice design.
The Kia esque alloys on the RS3 'sedan' are very alien to Audi's usual looks & styles.
At the same time I do concur that the rotors have been done to death now - having been out for what must be knocking on a decade !

I posted it in another thread. Not sure about Kia but these alloys on a Renault Clio look very similar to the blades. I saw them in person and thought the same.

Dam Audi and their tired rotors, available on the A1 A3 A4 A5 A6 A7.....have I missed any.
