It appears my clutch is slipping in 4th, 5th and 6th under load just wondering what cheapest reliable kit i could get? I do plan on mapping it but no more than stage 1 so shouldnt need anything beastie.

Long time since I put a clutch in my 2003 Black S3.

APS fitted an uprated Sachs clutch plate in mine with oem pressure plate / everything else. ( I didn't need a flywheel and so kept the dual mass item)

Handled 275bhp / 290lb ft which it regularly made on RR ( all before all this stage 1, 2 malarky, you had a remap or went big turbo)
It felt like oem but was stronger and I didn't need legs like a Russian shot putter, to operate it like some paddle clutchs.

I can't remember the costs it's too long ago, and I remember getting the front and rear arb's changed out for stiffer R32 items at the same time as the subframe was down.

As it's mostly standard parts, the main cost was labour.

Thanks pal forgot to say i have a 2003 s3 quattto
Seen sach clutch kits but dont think its uprated just oem standard

Just had the DMF and clutch replaced in the mule (2003 S3) - couldn't call the old girl names as she's done 182k now (OMG). Anyway, the DMF and clutch cost me a fortune, almost £1k in parts (genuine Audi parts). I did choose to renew the seals in the hydraulic system so it has had a full clutch system overhaul, but it wasn't cheap. Mine is also remapped and pushes out just over 260 and is totally standard apart from a badger5 TIP and JR induction cone, so if you aren't going for big power, it may not be wise to upgrade to performance parts (unless they're cheaper). Have a look for a non-genuine clutch kit (try LUK) and set aside some pennies for a new flywheel if your car has anywhere near the intergalactic mileage like my spaceship has done.

A popular setup is a stock LuK DMF in conjunction with a Sachs paddle plate. I bought it on the advice of @Tuffty and @Gops and they're both running over 600Bhp. If you're not planning to go further than a stage 1 (didn't we all!...) then a LuK will fit the ticket nicely.

If you're interested I have a complete LuK kit for sale (DMF, unused clutch plate, cover, slave cylinder and bolts) as I'm breaking the car - 1000 miles use only. It'll save you a heap of money over new.

PM me if interested?

do you think it is my clutch? say I'm in 6th gear and at 30mph hard on the throttle and when revs hit about 3k the revs increase really fast but there isn't any power being put down. Was thinking maybe boost leak somewhere but not 100% sure.

What would a stage 1 remap give me since I have 225bhp bam engine. If I put a standard clutch in surely it wouldn't handle 300lbs torque as I read somewhere a stage 1 map takes to about 280bhp and around 300lbs torque?

I bought my s3 from a dealer and got 3 month warranty which has gearbox, engine and turbo covered only had s3 about a month reckon the clutch is covered or would they argue its wear and tear but like I say only had it a month!

engine speed increases but road speed doesn't.... clutch

vid looks like clutch mine went at 74k but had been slipping slightly from 70k. mine used to show up on the motor way accelerating hard from 3k in 5th or 6th gear

stg1 level should'nt get that much torque

could be a boost leak? not even done 80k yet.

you get up to ~5600rpm in 3rd gear by which time you should be doing 70mph yet you are only doing ~42mph. The clutch looks to start slipping at ~2800rpm

Buying an S3 is cheap; keeping it on the road isn't
