This feature has stopped working on my car. I am just at Audi having a service so asked them to look at it but they are saying my car doesn't have that feature.
They are saying you have electric memory seats to have that function is that right??
It worked before so I am at a loss

So they're basically saying that you are lying?

Might have been set up after being sold?

I bought it 3 months old from Audi. It's not been plugged in anywhere to wipe it.

But yes they basically saying I am wrong!!

Nothing to do with seats - ridiculous.
You do need electric folding mirrors though.
And the control needs to be in the offside position.

Yes I have folding and it's set !! Still don't work. It used to. It stopped a few weeks ago

As above mirror dip comes with electronic folding mirror option - control knob needs to be set in NEARSIDE position assuming you're in the U.K. or to be safe set to the passenger side.

This cropped up recently one stopped working and Audi were basically calling the owner a liar - next thing they turned up at his house with an A5 Cabrio whilst they sorted it out in way of an apology. Wasn't that long ago.

Can't find it at the mo as I'm out walking the dogs.

I have it and i dont have memory seats. My seats are manual. Unless someone before me changed the option via VCDS but i doubt it. cant you register on myaudi.com to see the details of your car? Dont forget you have to have the passenger side mirror selected on the dial bit to make it work. i accidentally turned to the middle and got in a faf about it not working!

What makes it worse is they wouldn't believe me when i told them it was working 3 weeks ago! seems if they can't fix it try to convince you you never had it

If you haven't already you could try to "reset" the dipped mirror position by setting the switch to passenger side while in reverse and manually adjusting to your required angle. It should remember again IIRC.

My car "forgot" the position once or twice, however mine is set by VCDS and might behave differently to standard functionality...

The map is safe with a disconnected battery so no worries there I've disconnected mine a few times with the map on.

Trying to re-learn its position sounds worth a try.

Once adjusted flick the switch to the centre position to store the settings then back to passenger side and keep it there for as long as you want mirror tilt activated.

Tilt function automatically goes to normal position when you hit 10 or 15mph can't remember which or when you key off and take the keys out.

Shame :-(
I may have mis-remembered the procedure... found this on a quick search, not sure if useful:

Found this on a forum, it's about the Golf though, but I expect it'd be the same. It does seem you have to move the adjuster to the L side to activate it.
OK, had the same issue with my new Estate. You have to set up the default positions. I went to 2 dealers before one of their mechanics found out how to do it - it's not in the handbook! Here's how:

1: With the ignition on and the car in neutral, adjust both mirrors for the 'normal ' driving position.

2: Check the 'mirror down' function on the conmputer is selected 'on'.

3: Engine off, ignition on, car in reverse, move the mirror swith to 'L' and adjust the mirror so you can see the kerb;

4: Still in reverse, turn the ignition off - this stores the 'dipped position.

5 Select neutral;

Job done. Now when you have the ignition on and select reverse with the mirror switch in 'L' position, or select 'L' when in reverse, the mrror will dip to the stored position. When you take it out of reverse, it stays dipped, and only returns to 'normal' when going forwards at walking pace.

Good luck trying the above - it's not obvious is it?

Folding windows ?????? ;o)

The VCDS mod is great if your car comes without electronic folding mirrors. As the mirror itself is missing some sensors that store the mirror dip position you may need to tweak the position every couple of months.

Glad you got it sorted !! Sounds like the car got confused and needed a quick reboot !

Yeah, would be interesting to hear what the dealership has to say for themselves.

Thought all was well but now the long button press dose not work, i noticed that i had left my roof open so trued to close it with key not working? looked in mmi settings everything if ticked to say its on. if i put the key in the lock turn it to unlock or lock windows go up and down. i remember when i had my v64motion there was a way of making it learn this function. dose anyone know if its possible to do this on an 8v?

Think you have to hold the switch up to raise the window manually but when it's at the top keep the switch help up in the same position for 10 seconds and it re learns the position of the windows. Something like that !

Modifying a setting can sometimes affect other settings within a car with various "versions" of VCDS.
