I've already posted this in the welcome forum but thought I'd add it in here to .... I am in the right place ... 8v chassis

Just traded in my A3 2.0 tdi S-Line for this ... So far absolutely brilliant

I wasn't looking at any mods but after reading thru some if the threads on here you never know, quite fancy the quatro side stickers (i know not a mod) .... Any tips for a new S3 owner??

Cheers guys

Tips? Yes. Map it, or an MTM M-Cantronic, lower it and then pamper it!
Welcome mate. Gorgeous car!

Just about to go fill her up for the first time, is it worth putting in the super unleaded stuff?

Dealer recommended use it for the first 2-3 tanks and as you said, go heavy on the right foot

Welcome to the forum and the Sepang Blue S3 club.

I use premium grade all the time, if that helps. You have bought a high performance car for a lot of money so why scrimp and save over less than £5 a tank which is cost of a pint and packet of crisps

****** hell. Last time I could get a pint and a packet of crisps for less a fiver around here was about 2007...

Modern engines will all compensate for poor quailty fuel and run on it without damage, but there's an associated performance and efficiency loss. With high performance turbocharged engine pushing 150bhp/litre, I'd imagine it'll be quite responsive to the additional knock resistance of premium fuel.

...or BP Ultimate.

Only tip - keep the tailpipes clean, the inner ones soot up very easily!

Cheers...went with shell v-power don't really know if it makes any odds performance wise but your right, for the sake of a few quid per tank...

Certainly a massive difference from the A3 TDI though :confounded: full tank on that used to get me 540 miles ... Full track on this .... 390 this might take a bit of getting used to ... But then I wasn't expecting anything like tdi millage from a tank :whistle2:

Haha cheers mate ... Pamper it sounds like the only option really, don't even know what MTM M-Cantronic is???

Do you guys declare all these mods to your insurance or just the performance related ones, what impact does it have.

My insurance is very low at the moment (sub 200 per year) but would remapping have a huge impact on this?

Depends on the mods but performance enhancements generally do cause your premium to rise.

Re-mapping could also affect your warranty as well.

300bhp not enough? LOL

Haha 300 is plenty ... More than plenty. but was considering this for previous car, just asking out of interest really

Anything that affects warranty might be a non starter to

M-Cantronic is basically a plug-in remap, a very advanced tuning box which can be removed if required... If you get my drift!

I dont think so... I have no doubt it can be done, but every doubt that it might be enjoyable. I avoid wetherspoons like I avoid treading in dog turds, and find myself experiencing a similar of revulsion when I find myself in a 'spoons, as I would had I just stepped out of my car and into a pile of recycled pedigree chum.

There are many many reasons I could cite for this, including lack of music, lack of social responsibility in their shameless promotion and enabling of dangerous binge drinking, and the fact that the opening of a new 'spoons is often the death knell for other smaller more characterful pubs that are more deserving of patronage. However, none of these can be written in a manner that disguises the realisation that I think I've become a bit of a snob in my latter years, and would rather take up regular bouts of self harm than frequent an East London wetherspoons.

Oh dear, I seem to have become... ...an Audi driver.

Gorgeous car. Congrats.

Yes, super unleaded makes a difference. You can't get full power with the regular fuel.

I clean my tailpipes after every drive. Yeah I know, but it takes a couple of minutes vs letting it become a proper job.

I'd recommend getting several layers of wax on the rear bumber and hatch too. You collect crap and DI soot all over the back after even short drives. (Mine's white so it shows up straight away). Some of the particles really dig in and need Iron X or clay to remove but with a decent sacrificial was layer it all comes off easily. Gotta admit, I clean my rear end with a QD after every drive ... Ooh err.

I can honestly remember the times when a 'spoons would have been regarded as a yuppie type boozer in the East end. How times have changed sine my first sight of an Audi.....an Orange Audi 80 owned by my posh uncle from over Highbury way.

Isn't that a manual driver who keeps pumping their leg on that silly clutch all day??? :p

Wait until you're used to it, fuel gauge goes down a lot quicker when you realise just what fun is to be had.............

You would have to be crazy not to, in my opinion. Insurers will look for any possible reason not to payout, and if they decide your insurance is void through non-disclosure then being uninsured is a crime!

I declare even factory options when getting a quote; it's the only way to be sure and since insurance is about peace of mind I think that's worth the extra few minutes it takes. Most insurers will cover mods within a certain band with little or no additional cost, if they will cover modified cars at all.

You will need to get about 9k on the clock before you start getting reasonable fuel consumption 24mpg to start with from new, then after around 9k you'll get something around an average of 34 mpg they're greedy with the petrol

Just got to 8500 miles in mine and while I have not seen a significant change in economy yet the performance seems to have gone up half notch n the last 1000 miles or so

Nope .. Shell V power / nitro is defo 98 ron.

Standard Shell Unleaded or any unleaded for that matter in the UK is 95 ron.

Only tesco momentum is 99 ron.

All the other super unleaded fuels are 97 ron.
