Hi I have tried a forum search with no luck so ....

I have a 2013 A4 2.0 TDi Quattro Black Edition and I want to buy an extra set of alloy wheels to put winter tyres on, I currently have 19" alloys but was thinking of going down to 18 or 17 to keep the cost down and my questions are

1 Can I fit any A4 wheels onto my car ?

2 I believe winter tyres give off more road noise if this is correct should I go for a smaller wheel to provide a higher side wall and offset the extra road noise or is this crap ??

so should I go for 17" or 18" ?

as usual all feedback welcome as this is all new to me.

Personally I'd go for 17" for cheaper tyre aswell as the nasty surprises you might get hiding under the snow or sliding towards kerbs...from experience I took a chunk out my 19s last year because I didn't know there was a kerb under the snow and now got my old 17s set up for this year

I have to say I am finding the whole " Finding the right wheels" thing very confusing .....

Ok so now I know what I really need to be looking for ...

66.6 c b
5x 112
Et 45

I have been meaning to post this for a while, I've bought a set of 18' BBS SR's from Brodster. BBS list them as having a finish that is suitable for Winter. I already had the tyres from my A6 for 18's, but had to change rims as the centre bore is different.

Might be a little close to the body colour for some, I'll see how I feel when I take them off in the spring, maybe go darker grey or black.

Thanks for the photo .... they look good to me and the colour I was thinking of as my car is white ... can I ask what winter tyres are you running ?

Thanks for the feedback on the wheels, I think they'd look good on a White car. With them being BBS they are TUV certified for an A4, and come with the correct spigot for the A4 centre bore and bolts for the different shoulder angle of the wheel, you would need new locking bolts. I'm running fairly budget Falken HS449 tyres, 245/40 18 XL.

I ran these tyres on my old A6 all last winter and they were as good as the very expensive Pirelli Soto Zero's that they replaced. Not too noisy, and a slightly softer ride than the 19" 'summer' wheels.

I've tried Dunlops, Fulda, Pirelli, Falken and Matador winter tyres on various cars, and with the exception of the Pirelli they all seem pretty close on performance. Saying that the Pirelli isn't light years better, it just performs better at the warmer end of winter conditions (if that makes sense).

Worth contacting Brodster, as my rims came from Rimstyle via him and he was able to improve the listed price.
