Blockage?

yeah I have had the same for months as well - I changed to a fabric based S2000 filter made by Cosworth recently and now I miss the paper whoosh I got from the old filter on acceleration even if I get an extra 6g/s from the MAF lol.

if it was rings causing this surely you would be burning tons of oil and it would not run very well.

have you tried plugging the puck pipe from the tip and removing the puck and seeing what comes out the pipe maybe into a juice bottle with some holes in (home made catch can) - it should just be a little bit of emulsified gloop when the engine starts from cold then oily smelling smoke maybe only the rocker is venting properly - so split the pipes to different bottles?

why not simply do a PCV delete? you will know it is not that then.

Dont want to fit catch can as I just replaced all the pcv pipes a few months back car does run ok. No clouds of smoke from exhaust but do get bits of black spots on rear bumper

No pipes were does months ago and this only happen in the last 2 weeks and check valve is right easy round as one end is bigger that the other and badger5 fitted it in June so that's defo right way round

Had compression test done today cylinder 1 very low compression also had camera down cylinder and it's all scratched and needs reboreing so in looking at rebuilding engine they didn't do leak down said there no point if compression is low

did they try again after slinging some oil down the spark plug hole? - I have read somewhere on here about oil washing the bores to resolve low cylinder compression?

how do you know the problem is not the head gasket between the number 1 cylinder and the oil ways and the cylinder explosion is pressuring the oil? in the same way if the HG split between cylinder and water pressurises the water and a split between oil and water - mixes them together? etc etc

so are you now going big turbo stroker? as you may as well replace everything with it apart?

I don't but if oil and water was mixing it would be showing in oil or water tank. I wish it's all down to funds plan was always to go hybrid but will have to be sooner rather than later. The guy was surprised that it didn't struggle to start with it that low

oil and water head gasket failure is only one type. I have had maybe 5 head gasket failures in my car ownership and only once had the old fashioned oil / water failure.

3 water to cylinder (most common on fiats)
1 cincquento (1996)
1 Volvo 740 GLT (1990)
1 audi s3 (suspected) (2001) <- I say suspected because it misfired every morning until it was changed and I had lost a load of coolant previously. (I believe the misfire was the pressurised coolant going into the cylinder when the car was cooling down.

1 water to outside 1 fiat punto (2002)

1 water to oil 1 old escort mark 2 (T reg)

Check the Head Gasket before spending £4K on a £3K car

It's not even worth 3k I've already spent more on the car than it's worth but it doesn't really bother me as I plan on keeping it for many years to come anyway, I will see if I can get someone to look at the head gasket

if there is any engine work the head gasket will be replaced - I'm not saying the analysis is wrong - but if the HG needs to be changed too - you would never know. I uploaded the state of the head I put back on mine as is (after the previous owners spark plugs had fallen apart) - and my car (fingers crossed) is still okay, the top of the cylinders were also dented so there must have been some bore damage too.

your car maybe starts fine because it is firing fine and when hot is slowly pressuring the oil ways and once it is running the cylinder pressure will stop the oil leaking back into the cylinder.

when I had my Volvo HG failure (albeit coolant / cylinder) the only issue was a pressurised coolant pipe - noticed after the waterpump started leaking. that was knackered for months and past an MOT 3 weeks before it was finally changed.

I wonder if there is a way to test the rings leaking compared to the HG?

maybe if you can bring the number 1 cylinder all the way to the bottom of the stroke and do a compression test when number 1 is still not holding pressure it means it is not the bore as the cylinder has no scratches at the very bottom? <-- not a fact - but a question

Take the oil filter cap and it blows a lot of smoke out of it

and it smells like? could it be an exhaust valve stem seal (or whatever they are?) that is still a load of work with the head off. I didn't bother doing mine when I did the head gasket.

do you have a spare car for whist this is being upgraded?

No spare car no will just have to make do with a pedal bike haha.i spoke to @Nathan Barnes on here about his engine not sure if @Prawn beat me to it tho and there's a forged engine on eBay with paperwork I've emailed them asking if valves, oil pump, water pump and so has been done and also emails @badger5 for a price

I am both happy and sad for you.

Watching Frozen after chopping chilli's is nothing to do with your car.

You are in middle of the quandary now, is a hybrid really enough - whilst its all apart - is the safest thing to do for longevity to go for a bigger cooler turbo rather than maxing out a K04 hybrid.

Yeah I no what your saying (about the turbo anyway you lost me with frozen tho ha) just need to get engine sorted for now (holiday to Florida to pay for)hopefully one with work done so when time comes the engine is ready.
