Face lift A3 2024

It ain’t worth that money.
Jeeez I remember when the FL RS3 started around that figure.

Audi have lost their minds.
Yep they have well and truly lost their minds .
I think the inflated prices and high APR's will price a lot of people out of buying them .

Their last moves have been indeed alarming. The Q8 facelift was quite a set back in design and I'm not sure about this one either. The recently released Q6 is a complete disaster inside and out and they even f'ed up the configurator of it. Badly. Audi's gone down fast, still two years back they had the most appealing lineup.

£47520 is the starting price
I wasn't keen on the front end either and how the Audi rings sit at the top of the bumper .
Exactly by the time you choose a colour and add the Tech Pack Pro to get the Matrix headlights and a couple of other bits well over £50K which is madness - The RS3 Carbon Black is £66K with add ons when I last speced one out of curiosity and like someone else said you used to get them for what they're charging for the S3 now

Everything goes up I get that, but this is ridiculous along with their high APR's

Interior quality seems to be suffering too. Audi used to be the benchmark for interior quality.

I had an A4 B7 a few years back and that thing was built like a tank - padded plastics all round, it felt solid. It even had those little rollers on the door hinges to stop it getting blown open in the wind. None of that now. More cheap, scratchy, hard plastics and I'm really not a fan of large glossy black panels that seems to be a thing.

I looked at the 8Y when it came out at the dealers and wasn't that impressed with it. To me, the interior seems like a Friday afternoon job. I get things need to be lighter/eco friendly but then the price should reflect the lesser quality.

I think my FL S3 8V will probably be my last Audi unless they sort quality for the premium they charge.

Agreed. I’m currently being asked on the 8Y RS3 why I’ve bashed the 8Y
Having owned one for 2 years I think I’m entitled to pass judgement on it.
You are spot on regarding the 8V being the sweet spot.

Then there’s the Audi pricing of new cars, lol, who’s gonna be able to afford those prices along with insurance hikes etc……

I couldn't justify over £50k for the 8V RS3 when I got my S3, it's too much money for a small car. It was around £15k more than the S3 and I'm not sure it's £15k more car (granted I haven't driven an RS3)

Yes, the RS3 is very capable but end of the day, it's still a small car.

Our FL 8V RS3 was 52k but I got discounted to 46k
8Y I paid 59k for it.
8V I loved and kept it for 4 years
8Y never gelled with it and sold it after 2 years.

My time owning RS Audi products is at an end, they just aren’t special any more.

At £46k its more palatable. I guess everyone's needs and budgets are different.

If I was to go RS, I think the B7 RS4 is the one I'd have - seems to have aged well, even if it is a step down in tech.

Gotta ask what bad experiences did you have with the RS3 since you're now constantly bashing it and stating no one should be interested about it, and same about the A3? The 8Y had a bad start, but I still think it's far from being a bad car and the competitors in the same class aren't really offering anything better in the same money right now.
Problem with B7 RS4's is they can quickly become a major money pit, I nearly bought one a few years back, glad i didn't now........

That is a concern, it would have to be a second car. I bought a 2008 Porsche Cayenne a while back with my rose tinted glasses on, it spent more time at the specialist so I know that trap all too well!

What did you replace the 8Y RS3 with?

I think vw group are being silly with their pricing
the new skoda kodiak starts at £9000 more than the model it replaces according to autocar

Appears to be the way of the world today, not just VAG. Many have gasped for BMW's pricing lately, especially some of the i5 variants. Also Benz A jumped out of reach with the facelift, the base model didn't cost unreasonably much, but when you added a single option then boom.

What I'm smelling here is that Audi is trying to justify the high price of the new S3 with the torque splitter and improved dynamics as the car is now having some of the RS3 abilities. So FL RS3 will maybe have some +5 hp and they add some 10 000 €/£ to the price tag because RS could be clearly more expensive than the S-only.

Do you think this will help the values of the 2023 s3 black editions? If the new one is so expensive and high Apr? My gfv on my s3 is £25k after 3 years

The current S3's prices will fall that is always the case when a facelift arrives .

Watched autogefhul review/intro of this so named facelift...so they're offering what certain Golf R models already have 328 bhp and trick diff all straight from existing part bins,2 new bumpers "rear bumper is a JOKE" and new lights, but it appears to have the same seat coverings identical black plastic centre console and zippo lighter gear lever, the 8Y's Achilles heal has always been its dull as dish water interior, but why would Audi do anymore to the 8Y when it's all electric replacement waits behind closed doors
Add in Audi's high interest rates the new models high RRP...rare as hens teeth will this S3 be on uk roads

I must admit that I like the front of the new A3/S3 facelift (based on photos) but will reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh at the showroom. That especially applies to the interior, the quality of which can't really be assessed from photos. The S3 represents a much bigger upgrade mechanically (upgraded brakes, torque splitter from the RS3, DSG remap, etc) than a typical facelift (less so for the A3) but that increased price tag (base level = £47,520) is going to sting. That is £15k more than the entry level A3. Personally I think I would rather spec up a black edition A3 and keep the purchase price well below £40k, thus avoiding the ridiculous "luxury car tax". And it would have to be cash/trade-in, as the PCP interest rates are now way too high.

Agree with most of what you're saying but the 1-5 tfsi 150 bhp in a car the size/weight of an A3 would not be a thrilling drive thats for sure.why isn’t there an A3 equivalent of a Golf gti? 265 bhp is perfect

I agree there used to be a 190BHP 2 Litre that you could get in the Golf or Cupra, but Audi couldn't get the engine so pulled it and have never brought anything back

So 1.5 or S3 it appears

Agree completely. Big performance gap between the 1.5 A3 and the 2.0 S3! VW lost the plot with the "all-digital" mk 8 Golf so that isn't an option for me. I had an manual S3 about 12 years ago and loved it. The new one is out of my price range unfortunately. My partner had a 2015 1.5 A1 DSG, which was a very good car. I think a high spec A3 (still available as a manual if I want to stay with a manual gearbox) might "have to do"..

I am the exact opposite l Frickin hate manual gearboxes,l cancelled my RS3 8Y Vorspung 15 months ago, since then I've been driving a manual facelift fiesta ST3, me and the Mrs dislike the fiesta a lot .....come September ill start looking for another car,Golf gti face-lift is the main contender

S3 facelift now available to configure here in Germany.

I am getting my S3 delivered next month, price 74.000, the exact same configuration now on the facelift lands me at 79 grand....

It has 33 more BHP and torque splitter for better handling but 0-60 is 4.7 - is that the same?
Reports vary a bit. Carwow's review says power is up 23 bhp (to 333) and torque up 20 Nm (to 420). That's a lot of grunt/pulling power for a small family car!
The 0-60 time (4.7 secs) is essentially the same (0.1 sec faster) but there are, of course, a lot more meaningful ways to measure/assess performance and handling.

Yes, sorry I forgot they had pushed it back up from 300 to 310 so 23 more

The facelift S3 will hit 60 quicker then the 4.7 they quote just look at the reviews of the R 20 years with the same power diff etc
as the facelift S3 .

On the Audi website it states 0-62 is 4.7 so 0-60 would be around 4.5

Hi all

Audi press release confirms price and order dates

S3 available to order from 15 May

Sportback prices
S3 Black Edition- from £46,925 OTR
S3 Vorsprung - from £52,400 OTR

Saloon prices add £565

Audi UK press release on prices and standard specs.

https://press.audi.co.uk/en-gb/releases/888

Couldn’t see any mention of cost of Akrapovic exhaust.

After looking at choice and options available to Germans, I have no doubt Audi UK will ruin everything for us again. ( assuming any of us can or want to to give Audi £50k plus for a new S3

Very helpful insight, thank you. I've put the 15th May in my Calendar. All being well I may just place an order then.

That press release (dated today) also says "A3 Sportback and saloon models are now available to order in the UK" but the Audi UK website still says "Coming soon". Will probably catch up in the next few days, but you'd think that they would coordinate these things...

Looking at the press release the spec's in the UK are fairly good granted there is a price increase. The spec levels in Ireland are not great due to taxes a lot of stuff on the option list. We have no prices yet but it was 45 grand for the 1.5 pre facelift.

New A3 configurator is up and running on the Audi uk website now
