Anyone else had this? apparently to check a connector has been connected correctly on rear of a fuse carrier?

Was waiting for me when I got in last night.

Think i'll pass until service is due. It says half an hour but "Could be Longer". That means they will want it for a day.

It says engine could switch off but you can still steer/brake. I'll take my chances.

Recalled:
24 Aug 2023

Statement:
On Audi A3 and Q2 vehicles manufactured within a specific period, it is possible that an electrical connector for the power supply for the fuse carrier in the interior of your vehicle may have not been installed correctly. If this connector were to come loose, it would affect various vehicle functions (such as engine operation, instrument cluster display, lighting). Should this error occur while driving, the engine may switch off. You can steer and brake the vehicle at all times.

Instructions:
The connector on the fuse box must be checked on the affected vehicles at an authorized Audi dealership

Easy to check by yourself

I've had the recall letter. If I got Audi to check the connector would they see my ASR valve controller?

No because it’s the little access panel they pull off. Not the lower cill trim.

Interesting, I'll look myself, thanks for the update 8YARWY :)

It got me thinking, when I installed my ASR I remember (I think I commented on it) one of the plugs for either the ASR or in that area did not have its locking mech pushed in,

Excuse my ignorance guys, but exactly where in the interior is this fuse carrier?

Left hand side of passenger area under the glove box to the left you will see a small removable piece of trim.
It can be removed by hand.

Hi all - first post in a while. I have an A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e and recieved this letter yesterday. Thanks to 8YARWY for the information, especially the .pdf I've had a quick look behind the panel but it looks different to that shown above - it's all black including the cables which are tightly tucked and routed. There doesn't seem to be any cables you can tug to check if loose. Is my model different?

It's just that the dealership is over 50 miles away and as has been said already it'll take some time to get it seen to. My next service isn't due until next year.

Thanks

Just had a look at mine, looks different to the pic above though

Yes of course I took the trim off but like Dnwc mine is different again. I just didn't get my head right under to take a pic which is now attached

Hopefully someone would explain what to check please :)

Just checked

This is the connector with the red tab

If it’s extended down to the floor it’s not in the locked position, hence Audi concern about it not being plugged in correctly

Put your thumb on it and push upwards if it’s in the locked position it’s fine and won’t move

The most disturbing aspect of going in

I just told them I’ll drive up, at an agreed time and they literally send the tech out, check & thumbs up then drive away.

I don’t understand why dealerships can’t understand why customers do not want a car wash. Drives me insane, along with a bit of anxiety, despite the numerous notices I put all over the car. Hate it.

But it's a complimentary service... what's not to like?

Had the recall notice, despite Warrington Audi check saying no recalls. Can’t get it into Crewe Audi until early November for a while I wait booking. Also had to fight my way through their complimentary wash offer……..those signs will be plastered all over the car again! Does anyone on here know of anyone’s car (RS3 or otherwise) where the fault has been found or even to the point where the car has cut out?

There’s no fault, it’s either not plugged in correctly as above in the many pictures / how to check it yourself, or it’s plugged in and the red tab locked down.

It’s the main supply to the fuse board hence a need to check that multiplug is in and locked by the tab.
Takes minutes to check nothing else.

Ok, thanks. So let me rephrase the question…….has anyone found it not to be locked down? Not had a chance to look at mine yet as it’s in the garage and I need to get it out to access.

Just bought a used RS3 and it needs quite a lot of correction. Horrible to think that this has happened whilst it was with Audi :frown:

I got the letter today. Just been out to check and the plug is secure.

What annoys me is that my car was in on the 19th Sep for several days and nothing was mentioned at the time. The car won't be back at the steelers for a long time unless it needs more warranty work as I get it serviced by a specialist.

I just got the recall for this. Did anyone get it done while-u-wait? It's a reasonable trip to the dealership so I'd rather not be doing it twice.

Yup.

Pulled up, Audi tech took the car looked at it, thumbs up, drive away after 5mins.

Excellent, thanks. That's what I wanted to hear. Just enough time for a free coffee and not enough time for a free car scrub!

I’d already checked it myself but it just tied up a loose end, I was gonna wait until the inspection service in December if I hadn’t rang them.

I was going to rely on my inspection too, such as it was but soon after my daughter got a letter too in respect of her '22 Q2. I was also very worried that if we did not have this carried out by Audi themselves this could come back to haunt in the future - you really need to have this inspection carried out by Audi and noted on your Service History. So we booked both cars in, had both cars super-washed inside and out and had some MMI questions answered too. Had my A3 TFSI e charged up FOC too :)

It’s a multiplug that is easily checked not worth a scratch wash from Audi imo.

If they’d insisted on having it for a day I’d just have waited until the December inspection.

Yes until you cause a crash on say a busy road/motorway and it's due to the non-fully inserted plug. Insurance companies will not cover. But if you want to take the risk then of course it's down to individuals

Just saying

If you were waiting like some for a month in advance before audi can get them in then you run that risk anyway……

It says in the letter the car can still be braked / steered.

Don’t forget some of these cars are years old and have been running around long before Audi detected there may be an issue.

Comes down to how confident an owner is in doing the visual / pull check themselves, I am, but there are some owners that won’t be able to.

I agree - I wasn't confident tbh despite your extremely helpful information regarding this issue, for which I sincerely thank you
