Hi Guys N Gals, Im having fun with my gearbox / clutch at the moment. 1st 'n' 2nd seem difficult to locate sometimes more usually when cold. Also 1st really crunches at times and I can feel this through the pedals. The cars done 87k and I got it from a none audi dealer so i believe there is little comeback on him. Before I approach him does anyone know of a decent Audi specialist in the Nottingham area that i can get an opinion from ?

Cheers Simon.

Cheers guys, I got 3 months from the dealer so there is some warranty left. On the test drive the car was great and taut but this seems to have gotten worse over the last few weeks. Ill take a drive down and see him... im not too mechanically adept you see.

Regards Simon

Thanks for the info about Derby I know John Fox in Notts are /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif.

good luck mate - and hopefully the non audi dealer wont mess you about. i'd take the car back regardless of what the audi dealer says.

Im off to the dealers tomorrow to let them have a look, it seems that there is a long history of crunching gears on the A3/S3 - I will let you know how i get on.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

Took the car to the dealers garage today, crunching gears some of the way.... The nice guy drove it round the block then confirmed my worst fears... the gearbox has gone. "needs droppin'" his exact words. Needs the car for 2 days but dunno when... thank gawd i have some warranty.

Cheers Simon

You get the point ??

Its only been six weeks since I got the car back and its /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif

On our way to Louth on Saturday to meet some friends when there was a terrible sound from the front. I pulled into the layby and there was stuff coming out of somewhere. Called the AA who had a look and pointed out that there were only 2 bolts holding on the driveshaft flange - so we were recovered home at a cost of £130.

AA man said this was down to the botched repair of the synchromesh carried out a month ago. The bolts were not coated with some 'stuff' that holds them in place.

Called the stealer and ha cant do anything until Tuesday. Big dilema for me... get him to repair it or my money back..... Any suggestions ???

Im happy with her. she is quick and pretty ecomonical 32mpg BUT my warranty runs out soon and I dont want any more problems... I may take up smoking again

Im having lots of beer tonight /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif.

Anyone have a spare car in Notts ???

Cheers Simon
