Mates just put them in his, car not the high priced kit but a canbus kit from ebay.
His he likely to suffer the windscreen motor problem?
hay guys and girls! i too like many of you have had the dreaded wiper motor not working after fitting a non genuine HID kit to my A3, however it does pay working for an Audi dealer having access to all sorts of wiring diagrams and speeking to a few wizards i guess is the best description for them there is a common shared earth behind the left hand headlight. the wiper motor and the headlights are both earthed on whats known as a spider earth , when you first turn the hid kit on the inital spike of power back feeds through the earth system and as we all know to well blows the wiper motor. the answer to this isint to just fit OEM HID headlights, you can cut the earth wire from the wiper motor and run a new earth from the wipers directly to the battery earth treminal completly bypassing the spider earth completly. i did this to my car last wednesday (3rd Feb 2011) and a week later its still working, i'll let you know if its still working in a weeks time or so, but so far so good! just thought i'd share my findings!
If you got a relay loom, that goes to the battery anyway, and only uses the original light power as a trigger for the relay, which then powers the ballasts.
Xenon HID Kit Wire Relay Harness H1 H7 H3 H9 H11 Loom Ballast Problem Flickering | eBayCan you link us to one of these relays? i am well up for trying a wiper blowing kit, but with all the possible fixes!
Just found this makes sense:

That information is wrong.
There is no power going back through the earth system.
The problem is very simple, 25.000V cables produce interference. As simple as that.
Has been proved during years in other Audi forums, nothing new to rediscover.
There is no harness relay in the world that can prevent that since the interference are spread by air.
If someone wants to keep trying to rediscover the problem he will most likely end up with another broken wiper motor.
Since 2006 people have been trying warning cancelers, relays, battery harness, different grounding, using Fog lights circuit.... all of them proved nothing.
All you can think has been proved before.
There is a solution already to avoid the problem Not to use regular HID kits since they produce interference.
Only some special HID kits & some OEM are interference free.
The majority of the reading I did said that the HID's in the FOGS would be fine, as they are not monitored by the canbus.
I also read about guys without factory headlight hid's using the foglight circuit and turning them on with the switch incar to avoid this issue.
But I guess that information was wrong.
My solution was a battery harness from my boy Matt @ TRS and a $50 used WMM off eBay. Already had some low amp draw Morimoto ballasts so threw those in over the ****ty DDM ones.
My motor fried the other night. No warning, just crazy wipers then nothing. Have had aftermarket HID kits for 4+ years, not sure what caused it to go crazy now. Oh well. Used ones go for $40-140 so I'll cross my fingers that I'm ok with one of those.
Well, that's the thing. I've got that custom setup from Jacob (shadow) so I figured I was pretty safe. Think it was just a fluke, my car has been acting up a bit lately. But I guess that is to be expected with a car that's getting into the higher mileage. I'm around 130k now, and with the accidents in there who knows what little things have been bumped around too much, haha. Still love the lady though, she's been good to me.
I got the same "fix" so apparently it just stalls the potential issue lol. My lights were having firing issues prior to the motor failing. I meant to do the relay harness sooner but kept procrastinating.
Hopefully you can buy them in the forum soon.

But you can only supply LHD units (going by your now closed GB thread, unless I skimmed over something) which are obviously not good for us in the UK?
Hopefully you can buy them in the forum soon.
